Good morning!!!!

Morning all, 80 going up to 88, cloudy/smokey

Got lawntractor torsion bar in with some help and tomatoes :) thank you Drew.

Had another tree fall, small dogwood, neighbor branch fell and neighbor across the street has a crew taking out some large fallen Ash.

M7040 - good try on the pressure washer- I know how disappointing it can be to fix one issue to have another pop up.

Drew - San Diego zoo is amazing, just the landscaping alone. We are in that area almost yearly as my Dad, Uncle and wife's cousins all in the area. Coronado is also a favorite.

I also love Sedona, and so many parks in that area north of Flagstaff and into Utah.
I was going to show you pics yesterday, I have from most of the parks, like Zion, Bryce, Antelope Canyon, Monument valley etc. Lots of driving so you'll need to thin the list or stay over night in some areas.

Back to day job, now that mower is working, have to get back to trimming out the trench, spraying the weeds, taking down the fallen trees, list is getting bigger, nothing unusual

Be well,

72F and partly cloudy @ 10:30, DP 60F, HU 67%, AQI 87. Heading up to around 80F for the day's high temp. A chance (15%) of a stray shower or thunderstorm again today. Air Quality Alert has been extended to midnight.

Got some spraying done for the Woman first thing yesterday.

Then got front lawn all mowed.

Ground seemed pretty hard and was dry ... a good indication that we are still behind on precipitation.

Woman got the east edge of the weed block stapled down, did some weeding and mulching as well.

Noticed while mowing we lost part of the apple tree. Looks like deer had a feast last night:

IMG_2859 copy.jpg

Told Woman we should gather up some of those apples for a pie if they aren't too wormy. She went over and grabbed a few, says they are as tart as She expected them to be.

Amazon dropped off Bluetooth speaker. Got that put on charger and charged up. Seems like it will be plenty powerful enough to use outdoors at a distance.

After mowing I took the 2 gallon pump sprayer up and hit all the weeds on the west side of the shop.

Also used battery operated string trimmer to mow down the weeds around some of the trees.

Sprayed around the gingko tree and the Rose of Sharon bush as well. Need to mix up more juice.

Woman rolled in from retrieving dinner about that time and there was a thunderstorm off to the northwest that was headed our way so I had Her meet me over at the barn where I parked the Cub.

Thunderstorm never quite made it here, either petered out or passed just to the north of us.

We did eventually get a couple of showers later though, but not a whole lot of rain ... just enough to keep things growing I guess.

Still no sightings of any groundhogs down here around the house ... (y)

Agenda for today likely to involve getting some holes melted in weed block fabric and some planting done in the garden.

Peach trees need sprayed with Neem oil (the Japanese beetles)

Tulip tree seems to be dropping leaves, not sure what is up with that.

May get the WB refilled while we are out there.

Hope everyone is having a good Tuesday ... (y)

69°F and .13 inches rain.

Could be a strange day. Calvin due to have wx effects later today, wind and rain, albeit less than hurricane levels, but enough to batten down the hatches, so will attend to such. Otherwise not much planned.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Back from town. Also stopped and paid property taxes getting the 1 percent discount.

I am not getting rid of the large pressure washer but need a 120 volt one for smaller jobs. Seems like most are prioritizing pressure vs flow. The old one I could not fix was only 1000 psi but had larger flow than most. Staying below 15 amp and being at 2 to 3 thousand PSI limits the flow.

Drew the Marin county area in CA is well worth spending some time in. We lived in Tiburon when on assignment and toured that area. Also the Russian River area is lovely. We traveled the river in a canoe and nearly did not make it due to heavy rainfalls. But on a calmer day it is a great trip. If open Hwy 1 is a must and spectacular drive

Also agree with Ken on Arizona. On assignment we lived near Kingman off of Hwy 66 and toured that northern part of AZ and UT extensively. We loved touring the desert through old gold mining towns looking for relics. Oatman AZ is an example of that with Burrows walking the area left over from mining days. Also toured the tribal areas. While there one of my work buddies into hunting got me involved in Coyote hunting and shooting competitions. Met a lot of great people there with similar interests. Never got the hang of how to use the call for Coyotes

RNG- Congratulations on the new place. I do not think one can move local firewood out of area around here due to the Emerald Ash Borer.

RonJH- Great picture of the sun. Thanks for sharing. One of the few benefits of the Canadian wildfire smoke plume- beautiful sunrises and sunsets. No one is talking about the pH levels of rain mixing with smoke.

David- I am happy to read that you enjoyed an old “Watering Hole” under new management. I hope that you and Sophie ride the storm with no surprises.

Buppies- My Mom suffered from a progressive multi-infarct dementing illness and with each "mini-stroke" she became increasingly more confused as to her personal situation and those around her. My Dad tried to use "logic" to bring her back to "reality" which did not work and only led to each becoming more upset which did not help. I was trained by and affiliated with the Alzheimers Association. "Joining the journey" and liberal usage of "fiblets" can improve the quality of life for both caregiver and care-recipient. Any way one shakes it there will be good days and bad no matter what.

Peg is generally "with it"mentally. She tends to "lose it" when she is ill, in more than the usual amount of pain, tired, socially overwhelmed, or when her routine is changed. She is a textbook example of a dependent, "sedentary" lifestyle. When she does help around the house I am grateful. I do get frustrated, but honestly there is little more than I can do that I have not already done to get Peg the help that I think she needs. I do not like the path that she is taking on her journey, but I am on it as well and will remain on it wherever it may take us.

The fog this morning was as dense as the early Spring warm air advection fogs over icepack. The recent rainfall pattern has been crazy strange, but really has not negatively impacted on us so far. This HHH weather really puts a drain on me. My recently changed sleep pattern due to my firefly craziness does not help nor the "air quality alerts" the past two day. Yesterday the smoke laid in the low lying areas like ground fog and never dissipated. Even in elevated areas the particulate matter irritated my lungs and eyes. I really believe that this chronic poor air quality is messing with the fireflies and just about everything else around here.

I hope that everyone is having a manageable day.

Drew, re mobility for your trip. Maybe a light weight mobility scooter or even an electric bike? Something easily loadable and available for those excursions beyond just a walk.

Passed emission test on Subaru. Picked up lo mein on the way, ate most waiting in line.
Got gas at Costco since 20 cents gallon cheaper, ran in for 1 item, came out with 10 and $130 poorer. They now have big signs up about checking cards. I asked if they liked the picture of my twin brother.
Picked up meds.
Feet up this afternoon.
