85F hazy sky from fire up north, humidity 9% lower than last 4 days.

Trimmer got in nice long walk and in town errands done before noon, snuck in short nap than bounce on the rider mower couple plus hours.

Plans for evening...deck with feet up enjoying couple popsicles.

Enjoy your evening all.

warm humid afternoon
stopped down to Ken's home to drop off some cherry tomatoes and keep him company while
he struggled fixing an old mower. It really needed to be lifted up so he could get at the torsion bar
assembly; all I could do is provide moral support.
Finally the water was running down my back and I begged off to go back to the a/c.
hope he got it fixed.

grass is growing an inch a day

that rv trip route is just the beginning. 8,250 miles
10mpg
825 gallons consumed
3 grand in gas
probably Sept 2024
go the Northern route on way out and Southern route on way back

Don, yes I need to avoid 80mph roads if I can. I'm just not going over 65 and don't want to be a menace...
many of the byroads will get substituted for these highways, sometimes the night before. But this is the general direction I'm going.
Next July hope to repeat my trip to Cedarville Michigan, that was fun. This time I want to take the lake road along the Eastern shore of Michigan.
this winter, don't know when, a trip to Florida to visit my friends, and I hope to get a trip in this fall to Outer Banks.
I love to be on the beach in the Fall, fly a kite.

no progress on the companion front. Will mean shorter driving days for me.
having a truck that allows me to take my hands off the controls and stretch around a little
is something I'm counting on. If I could get massaging seats, I'd get them too.
I have some time here, a year off.

anyone heard from PJS?

There is a lot of smoke here currently due to 350 wildfires active in the Province at this point - sorry, if we are sharing the smoke with you.
Good to hear from you. Glad some things are improving.

No need to apologize for the smoke...not your fault. But the ironic thing is that many trees in Canada and California that companies paid to preserve for carbon offsets (to meet ESG goals) have gone up in smoke during recent wildfires in these overgrown forests.

Watered garden to entice the rain, but it’s going well north of us. Got bitten by the bugs. Pulled some grass and clipped up some tomatoes.
Our friends who went west in June did over 4000 miles. They have a pull camper and diesel truck, but they rented a van and hoteled it for that one.

The ceiling fan over our bed was making such a load thumping sound that it woke me up this morning at 2am...slept the rest of the night in the recliner. Thought maybe it was worn out at 25 YO.

Cleaned it well this afternoon and then inspected it. Found that two blades had loose mounting screws, and the blades were not spinning on the same plane s the other 3. Tightened them up and it is purring like a kitten...should get a good night's sleep. (changed the battery in the nearby smoke alarm, just to be sure).

Good Afternoon KilroyJC,
Are your Norton stones oil! I have a couple of Norton stones that are oil. Not sure if the manufacturer of the water stones !
Here is a picture of my last project for my grandsons, toy/blanket chests made out of white oak with black walnut panels , and lined the floor with aromatic cedar !
rtons are water stones, I soak them for a day or three before using them. 2-1/2x9, then make quick work of the straight razors. I use the flattening stone after every session.

Those are nice chests.
I got woke at 1 am last night by the cat wanting out of the bedroom. I keep ceiling fan running.

Put my property tax in mail today. A lot poorer tonight.
I ran numbers in TurboTax to simulate next years filing. My state withholding needs to increase. Should get a little back from feds. Also checked my IRA balance, it’s been performing pretty well, but that can change suddenly.

Good (Tuesday) morning. Overnight Low of 9C and it's presently 12.9C, overcast with some 'rain' predicted... as it is lightly falling now. The wind has somewhat abated but stronger gusts are in store 'til this evening.

A puttering day yesterday. I did re-hang the shed gutter. Today I really do need to do a general clean-up of the house. When you live alone, these things tend to get put off until you realise "where did this mess come from?" Cobwebs are the most prevalent, the house spiders sure are industrious and must be eating 'something'. 😋

That's about it, take care all.
