Good morning!!!!

Good luck with the stuck tractor TXDon. No doubt the soil is super-saturated.

79F currently. High was 86F with passing clouds and enough breeze to help. The black flies aren't active in warm weather which is real plus.

I worked on rock picking this afternoon, sounds like a broken record I know. It's going to go on for a good while yet. By mid-afternoon dust was blowing in areas I have churned up. Last night's rain was welcome and sure helps to keep newly seeded grass alive but way too little for good growth.

I need to plant some beans and cukes tomorrow in the garden. I should replant the leaf lettuce since it didn't come well at all.

If all else fails, you can try the European method for unsticking stuck tractors

http://youtu.be/YnRRGW6z3UQ

Sure looks like it would work.

Hope you were able to get it out with your come-along and chains!

   / Good morning!!!! #34,343
Had enough chain with 4' to spare!
Successfully unstuck!
The foursome were working together.
1. ***-a-long
2. Four wheel drive
3. Differential lock
4. FEL
Very carefully no spinning and constantly tightening the come-a-long.

The sand there is 9' deep and today it was apparently completely saturated after all these storms.

This morning we had a successful water rescue with the VFD and this afternoon my tractor rescue was a success.

Time to relax.

That was pretty genius. Also liked the video on starting a tractor using a strap on the PTO.

Managed to get the pipes covered and the rough grading done with 3' landscape rake before the raindrops started falling: The soil is still very loose, but it's also pretty dry ... need to drive over it with the tractor to compact it and then probably cover it with a layer of screened topsoil before seeding ... so I figured I'd wait until it got a little moister to compact it. The "rain" - which was accompanied with a lot of sound and fury - ended up being not much more than a few drops ... not even enough to settle the dust ... storm was apparently in the process of building when it passed overhead. There's another line of strong thunderstorms out to the west ... hopefully we'll get some of that before they fade for the day. Our current rainfall deficit is almost two inches for the month, and almost four inches year-to-date :( Awaiting Game Four of the ECF to start ... Go Cavs !

Looks real good.
Got one of those rakes myself.

67 right now...should hit 86 today and maybe a thunderstorm. Although hot, the humidity is low, so it's not unbearable.

Well it got up to 90 degrees yesterday on the work site. Got to learn to dress lighter with a morning shirt over it so I don't have to hide in my truck in the afternoon. Need to pick up some sun block as well as I'm turning into a genuine Red Neck.

68 this morning high of 81 yesterday. Mowed grass last night like a dust bowl pollen blowing everywhere

   / Good morning!!!! #34,352
Coffee has finished brewing. 61° with mostly clear skies this morning. Heading to 77° with sun in the morning and thunderstorms in afternoon. Got a good bit of rain yesterday evening evening. .55". Time to cut lawn again.
txdon, glad you got tractor out.
RS, good work on covering pipes. Is it going to be kind of steep to cut grass on?
Good Morning All.

70 windy and we'll be looking for 86 this afternoon.

Smart job Don. Glad your tractor didn't turn into a future underground archeological find.

Dry and dusty here.

Son made it here safely from NYC on train so had a good visit last night before he leaves today.

Good morning! 65˚ and more rain. The iPhone is sending a flash flood warning for our area till 7 a.m., lots of thunder, little rain so far.
I'm glad my tractor is in the barn.

66F headed to upper 80's again today. Some scattered t-storms later maybe.

Congrats on the tractor retrieval TXDon. With the weather events you need your tractor available.

RS nice yard work.

Congratulations TXDon on retrieving the tractor!!! That had to be scary and frustrating at the same time. 71 here now going up to 91, rained and thundered most of the night. Back pasture is green again.

Eric, your only hope for a good night's sleep is to get enough fresh country air into your grandson to tucker him out.

Plenty of fresh air and exercise worked well, except I am the one feeling the effects of a long day, especially after getting up at 5:00am. Where do young kids get all energy from.

Take care all of you caught up in floods. It made it to our news too. I couldn't resist sneaking in here to see how everyone was doing, even though we have been having a laptop free couple of days (otherwise the little one would sooner play games on the internet than go outside).

Don, if possible, wait a while until the water level drops a bit. Trying to get out when the ground is still saturated can make for more work later. Getting a lightly stuck machine out should then be easy, especially when you have a loader and something on the 3-point, you will be able to lift up to break the suction. If they start to go down too far, think about laying some flat boards underneath to increase the area you are pushing against.

Hazy, hot and humid. The thundershowers are just not getting to us. Ground is very dry here. Storms are expected with the humidity these next few days.

A/C guy suppose to be here today. Need to get the upstairs unit back online. Sleeping is difficult in the humid air.

Have a great day all. No more ground sucking tractor episodes!
