Coffee is brewing. 30° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 66° with lots of sunshine. Had good time with times Son and family. It was fun watching kids hunt for eggs. Got home and lay back in recliner for the evening. Going to work on repairing soffit siding today. Should a good day to get it done.

Easter dinner was fantastic! Then dessert was astronomical!
Son and 3 GS's enjoyed it too! The two youngest GS's (7 & 9) know how to butter up grandma for sure---- "you make the best pies in the whole world grandma!"

Those two did help us get some bulbs planted. They mixed in the compost with the regular soil in the blocks. Of course they wanted to plant some bulbs, so grandma showed them how and they did a few. Then they wanted to "water" the bulbs..... more like play with the hose and make a mess.... nope don't need mud everywhere. One has to draw a line in the dirt, right?

Got about half of the blocks fully done, the second half is half done, with just the yellow ones done (Every other block hole). We'll finish up the orange bulbs tomorrow. Then the remaining bulbs will need to go into small containers for future planting.

Hopefully no more super cold frosts.... the apple and peach trees popped. I am concerned because our aspen trees are still in bud stage..... do the mountain aspen trees know something we don't?

The only flowers about ready to bloom are the grape hyacinths. They are sending up the flower stalks, but they won't bloom for another week to 2 weeks.

RS, can you ship me some of your energy? I could really use some..... The saw is coming along nicely.

Kilroy, are you using the bees for pollination or are you specifically going after honey?

Everyone have a great evening!
More for honey, but when I get my veggies in I am expecting a better harvest 😎👍

Good Morning!

God has given us another chance to get it right (or at least not screw up too badly).

31.8F, going to mid 60’s later.

awoke 5:15 to chickens going nuts - a large owl had perched in the tree next to the coop and they were somewhat discomfited (which worked out well since the alarm had gotten turned off for the weekend, but not turned back on).

this should be the final week of tax work - we are both SOOO ready for it to be OVER. This year’s “End Of Season Feedback” will be considerably different than the ones we did last year — but then again, work policies/rules/methods were considerably different, more on the negative side than positive. And neither of us has any qualms about telling them what they need to know as opposed to what they want to hear. And if we aren’t invited back again for next tax season, ain’t gonna cry about it at all.

Our taxes are pretty much done, getting back from the Feds, owe the state. More from Feds than state, almost just enough to pay accountant. Meh. Need to mail out form for eFile to accountant, Certified/Return Receipt, because who need to USPS losing it without proof of post?

I hope everyone has a happy healthy safe productive blessed day!

32 this morning high in 50s to near 60 sunshine abound. The antibiotics are kicking my rump literally last round today. I’m hoping yesterday was the worst of drainage.

Thanks Ron and mostly

good morning all
31 going up into 60's today, 70's tomorrow, and 80's for end of week. Spring has sure arrived.
I think this is the last of the morning frosts, so time to plant the rest of the tender stuff.

landlady coming over this morning to look at kitchen counter, she has agreed to replace it, old chipped formica looks pretty sad.
I'd be happy with just a new layer of formica, but sometimes replacing with something one piece is cheaper, her call.
Next year I hope to get rid of the 50 year old linoleum on floor. Slow but steady improvements.
but before we look at kitchen we will inspect all the tulips blooming. (y)
she is a serious gardener so I know the way to her smiles.

This afternoon will make another run to local garden shop and pick up tomatoes and strawberries.
Almost all the strawberries I planted three weeks ago bit the dust, no surprise with 28 degree nights.
These warmer temps and sunny days heat up the raised beds so everything should be happy from now on.
I expect the radishes to start popping up today.

Small Scotts push seeder I bought due in today, will go apply the grub killer to back lawn. I could have gotten one to pull behind mower but decided on such a small property I needed the exercise.

buppies, hope antibiotics sends that infection running. You've been tortured by that too long. Hope your day improves.

31 outside this AM, heading to mid 60's.

Yeah... guess Mr. Freeze is not done with us yet. Shame too. We really look forward to spring with the variety of flowering we get. This year it is start, freeze, wilt cycling pattern. Only the silver maples and the walnut are still sleeping. Since they are so old, I think they know something.

Yesterday, turned into a lawn/pasture maintenance day. Grass cutting is in full swing mode. Need more fuel for everything. Also managed to trim out the Milk House with new paint, after I ground down some more concrete around the windows, floor and what use to be the doors. Hope to let the wife finish off the painting today.

Hope all have a fine day. Be safe, get or stay healthy.

Good morning, was close to freezing this morning going to 64 today with more warm weather coming.

Worked some more with the tractor around the pond and picked up rocks that magically had surfaced. Next want to dig an access platform along the edge of the pond on the East side. The 36 inch bucket should be the best tool for the job

Buppies wish you well in your recovery.

Good Morning.
29 with frost on the ground when I woke up. It’s up to 36 now, on its way to the middle 60’s under a clear sky.

Yesterday was pretty busy, started at my daughters with a nice breakfast and a lot of rambunctious dogs, including Zoe.
When we got home, it was too nice of a day to conserve energy.

I pulled out the progressive mower and got it ready for mowing season.
With 12 pneumatic wheels, 5 driveshafts, 9 spindles, 6 belts, 3 hydraulic cylinders and 8 hoses, I’m happy that I only had to change 2 U-Joints, 1 tire and 2 tubes of grease. I even pulled the drive shafts apart and clean and grease the sliders. Only needed a come-along on one of them.
But it’s all ready to start the mowing season.

Next was to figure out why the pond fountain was tripping its GFI. It’s resolved, but after a thorough examination, isolating the pump, the lights and even the timer motor, I found no issue. Put it all back together and it works as it should. Not unlike Drew’s RV.

Today I’m planning to haul manure over to a neighbors pumpkin farm, they prize the alpaca flavor above all others. I’m guessing I’ve got at least 6 dump trailer loads for them.

After that, I’ve got a little grapple work before I put my feet up.
