good morning all
just woke up, dying for cup of coffee, and car attendant knocked on door with a steaming hot cup. How marvelous.... (my upfront generous tip worked its magic...always glad to take care of the attendant)
am guessing I got about four hours of sleep. Problem is the poor condition of rails, some really big bangs along the way, reminds me of hitting those concrete bridge seams on rt 95.
I think once I get to DC, which should happen fairly soon as currently sitting in Richmond VA station. From DC to NY pretty sure track is in better condition for Acela trains.
about 5-6 more hours to go.
I had very good experience with my echo long power pole trimmer, but like so many of the more powerful gas ones, gosh they get heavy to use. I had my fireman farm helper in NC go up in a man bucket as far as we could on big Massey, plus using that 16-18 foot pole saw, really helped maintain things. But after two hours of that, even he complained of his arms and shoulders hurting.
I found an old pole trimmer in garage, the type with the rope and the cutter blade. Works ok on small stuff, but that razor sharp saw Don is getting sounds like a better idea. I always try to undercut a little to avoid tearing the bark off at bottom.
need to wash my face in this tiny sink to wake up, then may head down two cars for a coffee refill. Definitely takes some balance at times while train is rocking and rolling.
full moon last night followed the train along, shining through upper window into room.
will see if any of my pics came out
