I hear you about trying to get them on track..... our middle son was up to his eyeballs in debt 2 years ago. Then he got divorced. We basically provided the housing and a financial plan. We are very proud of him now! Single dad of 2 boys doing great. He has saved enough now that he could go buy a new car cash! This is on after he has paid off all his debts and is still able to buy things he needs /wants or the very expensive electronic games for his boys!

That’s encouraging Ted, good for him (and you)
Sadly, this was years in the making aggravated by us assuming they had the skills and the will to budget. For the past 6 months I’ve been their financial/budget person and they are on track to be out from under and some savings by end of the year. My longer term plan was to address the car/savings issue after the debt but this opportunity came up which may prove better.

How does that work with insurance? What if he lets the insurance lapse?

I could say he won’t. But…
Years ago, when still single we lent him the money to buy a decent used car. Not an official loan per se, but monthly payments to us. About 6 months in he totaled car hitting a deer, hence the Honda Civic. Of course he had cancelled collision to save money. For next 21/2 years he made bank payments for the Civic he drove and parent payments for the totaled Accord. Yes, we returned that money as a wedding present later. The point was the responsibility, not the money.
Proof of insurance is a stipulation for this car and we will be on as titled lien holder. I kinda doubt he would be tempted again.

Drinking Frist cup of HOT coffee. -3° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 17° lots of sun. Yesterdays projects showed up without looking at Todo List. Neighbor gave me a Craftsman Table Saw. It started smoking when he turned it on. Thought easy fix. Nope. Motor and blade are like a standard hand circular saw. Never got into much when I noticed water pump was cycling to much. Found that Water Softener was stuck in part of it cycle. Found that gears that cycle valves were not moving. Lubed them and started cycle over again. Completed cycle correctly. Water pump was short cycling. Drained water and and got air compressor out to recharge pressure tank. Only 5 trips to shop and cellar to get all needed to get proper pressure in tank. Then put everything back away. Pump and softener work correctly. Will try for a conserve energy today. Oh Wait. Table saw is laying in middle of shop floor.
Got the moon picture I was trying for last week. Full Moon this coming Sunday will be the Snow Moon. Best time for a picture will be midnight if we have clear skies.

Good Morning All.

Good morning, the low temp is -5 and the high to 18°F. Wind SW 3 mph. Sunny!

The monthly trip to North Bay is today. YAY! I get ribs, sweet potato fries and coleslaw for lunch.
There are probably 8 stops on the trip.
My new game plan when it comes to running to town is working good. Once a month to NB, then every Thursday to the dump and town. The rest of the week stay at home. I go through 1 tank of gas a month in my Dodge Journey. The oil companies aren't going to get rich off me, that is for sure.
We will let the woodstove go out, the oil furnace can take up the slack.

Nice moon, Ron.

Have a good day all

Good morning, 38 going to 44 today and cloudy and more wind gusts coming up

Woke up too early today, maybe a nap is needed later

Ordered a Mitsubishi hyper heat mini split yesterday

Going to town to get the IMAC checked out. The new laptop is working out fine but looking to get a 24 inch monitor for it.
Not sure if the docking station is working correctly so will get that checked out as well.
The wifi from the TV is not showing up on screen mirroring. Must be the tv that is the problem. Reset the tv to factory settings, power cycled the tv and router etc. Showed up on laptop a few times and then disappeared. Will call Vizio help line later.

Granddaughter was discharged yesterday from JH hospital and is planning to go back to school in a couple of days

good morning all
82 degrees here yesterday, 84 today, unseasonably warm even for Florida but great timing for me. I can see I'm going home to a deep freeze this weekend, looks like 9 degrees Sat morning.

Don, if lienholder listed on policy, which they should be, insurance company required to send a copy of all cancellation/non pay notices to lienholder, as they have what is called a single interest in the policy.

may drive down to Ft Lauderdale to look at boats, or up to Palm Beach to look at Grand Design travel trailers. Joys of just screwing around.

Frits, good news for GD. You are one very caring man.

My mom always had on PBS when I was a kid, so I grew up on a lot of BBC programming - Everything from “Masterpiece Theater” to “Fawlty Towers”, which makes a difference with watching shows like “Top Gear” — although it is funny to see Mrs. starting to get into ”Grand Tour” 😂

49 dropping all day to 32 tonight, and some rain.

Ron, nice moon pic, and glad you got your pump issue fixed.

RS, sorry your valve won't cooperate.

Hope you guys in Texas get some warmer weather soon. Our real winter weather returns tonight.

Took a nice warm day hike and talked with some interesting Rhode Island folks...83 YO couple with their grandson. The man was proud to say he had hiked to the top of McAfee Knob when he was 79, although he says his grandson led the hike, and sort of tricked them by not telling them how far and high they would be going. McAfee has the reputation of being the most photographed/scenic spot on the AT...not too far from BEF's new land and Buppies. Hiking it is on my list.

Brought in several wheelbarrows of firewood before dark, since it would be raining some today.
