A broken tree, hung up in another tree, this is going to take some studying to make sure I can get it down safely.

Let's be careful out there and have a good day.
I think they/we call those "widow makers", for a reason.

Yup, I am all too aware of the dangers involved and the reasons for a situation like this being referred to as a "Widow Maker". If I can't find a way to do this in a safe controlled manor I will wait the 2 weeks, and $100, to get a permit and hire a tree company with the equipment necessary to remove it, for about $3000.

Good evening all. 41ºF for the start, partly cloudy, windy. Very windy, sky became mostly cloudy, and high temp was 69ºF. Men's meeting to start day, then putter and trip to bike shop. Gas was $2.63 / gal. Nap after getting home.
Randy(wag) glad vine is now trimmed. Sorry about the forgotten tool.
Drew hope coffee was good, have been trying to reduce sugar myself, it is in so many processed food, condiments, etc makes it more of a challenge. Who certifies gas?
Ron glad plan worked yesterday. Sounds like good plan for today. nice pic.
Kilroy I take it fire went out. I use a few drops of gas or premix to help start reluctant engines. I was at bike shop, they said most stuff coming in better now, but they have back orders with Oct, '23 expected fill date. Hope honey-do list not too long.
Buppies Thanks for the warning. prayers sent.
Scotty good to hear rainfall looking good. Hope you get forecasted rain
Billy hope you could take advantage of the warmer weather. Glad the spikes helped you on the hike nice pics
Mike thanks for the update. prayers sent.
RNG hope you could start trip. Hope insurance not too big of a pain.
Bill hope you had fun plowing/seat time.
Paul pretty good batting all heater blowing hot air at days end.
Bill they have not invited me back, yet. They are going to change filters and clean screens, and change one batter. They wanted to know if anything else was on computer.
Jim wife gone then returns and no update to Honey-do list? WOW
Rich glad you got a energy conservation day. Chemo did similar things to wife's sense of smell and taste.
Frits thank you for sharing that update. Really neat about daughter. Sorry about shoulder, has it been evaluated by PT person? Good luck with mini split.
Mark good to see you are warming up.
Kyle software has really changed sine I was working win CAM programs. Looks like TCPC is accomplished on machine control. Most of the readily available CAM packages like MastercCam were 2 1/2 axis, and many of the Machine controls were 2 1/2 axis. (mid'80's). Used NCL by NCCS which is still around, gets used in a lot of aircraft work.
Ted glad you got luck on no wind damage. Hope trip to store was successful. Hope paper work went well, no this groups favorite pass time :)
David energy conservation is an important skill and accomplishment.
ljj Welcome to GM thread. I lived in Missouri for 60 y STL and Rolla area.

Dennis nice to hear you reconnected with former coworker. Okay does he have more tractors than you?
Frits Peking Duck is nice surprise. Glad no serious damage.
Don thanks for sharing.
Randy(wag) most peope spoiled with multiple grocery stores only 5 minutes away. Thinking ahead is skill that has atrophied in many people. Good luck with aunt.
Ted glad shopping went well. sorry about dryer, hope switch was the problem. I have anti-bug screen on dryer vent on roof, usually it is culprit. Glad you are getting some moisture.

Just fired up the Dolmar. It has maybe an hour or so on it.

Both my Dolmars all seem to have the same issue - if they sit, they cylinder floods. My normal startup routine is pull cover/pull plug wire/pull plug/pull cord until liquid fuel stops laying out pouch hole/put everything back/set fast idle/ pull once more and it starts.

6400 (out of service now due to tree falling on it, awaiting rebuilding) and 7300 (replacement for 6400)

Some snatch blocks and a whole lot of rope are often helpful.

Good morning! 38 now, high of 49. Yesterday was quite decent outside, snow is melting.

@check - there are things I smell, I find it odd what I can smell and what I can’t smell. And there are smells that suddenly come through, then eventually fade away. This year, I can smell wood smoke. I have always been able to smell cooked/cooking pork fat, especially bacon. Even when I was in the hospital, I could smell bacon when they were serving breakfast to those who could actually have solid food. Race gas will about knock me down, but regular pump gas has no smell. I have learned to live with it.

Not sure what today will bring. Have to go to calling hours tonight for a friend from grade school.

Everyone stay safe out there.

Morning all, was 30, going up to 49.

Thomas-hope the wife heals fast, can't rush ladders ...

Thanks BEF for the video, will have to watch later. I am using plastic anchors to attach my foam board and it is silver side facing basement. Our moisture is more airborn than coming through walls as we have no salting or discolored blocks.

Wagtail - good luck on the search missions after aunt cleaning :)

Feel better Kyle

Rip - hope the wife is doing better.

For hung trees, rope and block and pull it away from you. Had so many Ash hung up the year and last I had to buy a longer/bigger bull rope and pulley. But even I pay someone if it is too high and crazy or too close to the house or other buildings. Sometimes it's just worth it.

don't know what if anything will be done today, wish I could get over this alligator and my finger would finish healing. Finger don't hurt but trying not to open it up again. Wife not happy if I get blood everywhere (again).

Be well

I have both, the issue is getting them up the tree high enough to do any good. I am very leary of putting a ladder against the tree to put the ropes up. I have visions of OHSA not approving, not that I care. The more I look at the situation, the cheaper the $3000 for a tree company to come out looks.

I was watching some OSHA accident investigations about a month ago. A pro tree cutter died falling such a tree. $3000 for tree removal could be cheap versus an accident. GL and do be careful out there
