The heating valve on the tractor will no longer operate from the cab controls so no heat possible only works on fresh air or AC. I was looking into a replacement servo valve from Kubota but they hold it very dear I am afraid at over 300 dollars. It is buried under the seat platform and not easy to get to but took the seat out and the platform cover plate to be able to put eyeballs on it. Resorted to disconnect it from the servo motor to the valve and move it manually to the heat position so heat is working again. There is an access plate in the front part of the pedestal 4 inch 6 inch that I can remove with 4 screws and just barely reach the valve but will work for now if I need to turn off the heat. I might look into a choke cable I have to adapt it to operate the valve

The heating valve on the tractor will no longer operate

I wonder why. Deposits? Freezing?
everything looks good under there and your tractor doesn't look that old

when something fails, I always wonder what I could have done differently, if anything, to prevent it.
like the only time I've blown up a small engine by not keeping enough oil in it, due to angle of operation.
I sure felt pretty stupid about that.

I'm impressed you identified the failed part vs electronic controls.
once all that stuff is taken off, bet that air seat isn't light, looks like you can replace the part.
Maybe do a youtube video and get a million hits that pays for a new M6...

Good morning to all! Low of 35°, going up to 65° today, 10-15 mph breezes. Tomorrow the winds will usher in a cold front / low pressure system.... high for Friday will only be in the low 40's. Predicted low somewhere around 20-25°. Maybe some snow.....

I didn't get out to the shop at all yesterday..... just didn't have the mojo....
Maybe today....maybe not.... If I was a smart fellow, I would get out there before the weather sets in....

Need to make a light order at the grocery store.... only a few items, so shouldn't take too long. Coffee filters number one on the list... don't want to not have any of those.... wifey (nor I) wouldn't be happy without the morning coffee.....

I hope everyone has a great day!

Just got the notification that the installer for our new fiber internet will be here on Monday--- WOOHOO!
Our current service is 8mb download, 2mb upload (when it works) at a cost of $56. The new fiber will be at a full Gig for up and down --- for a whopping $40
Supposedly, no throttling of speed either. That will be nice!
We have been waiting for over a year since the announcement that it would be coming!
I hope it's as good as they say it is.....

55F with fog (supposedly) @ 11:30, although looking out I am not seeing it - it's bright and sunny ... (y)

There was a Special Weather Statement issued last night for the the area: Dense Fog Advisory. It had already started to form by the time we knocked off over the barn @ 21:00.

Things got off to an inauspicious start yesterday when I hooked up the 100' poly hose for the air nailer to the compressor and found it had multiple splits/leaks in it. Dispatched The Woman to The Depot for a replacement.

Got the replacement door jamb/frame and trim moved over to the barn.

Got a couple more bays dug out for foam board.

Got a bunch more 4 x 8 sheets of foam board ripped into 3rds, still only about 1/2 done though. Looks like we'll need a few more sheets of the 1 1/2" thickness.

Got some joist hangers put up along the back wall.

Woman got the last of the BLO put on the 2 x 8 x 14 form boards that will go across the openings for the overhead doors.

Agenda for the rest of today:

Unload gas from car and refuel Cub.

Rebait live traps.

Put forks on Kubota and move some pallets out of the barn. Might see if there's enough room so we can sneak another one up into the shop. At a minimum get the garage door opener for the shop moved up there.

Unload the 90 2 x 4 x 8's from the van and get those moved into the barn.

Blow the leaves off the other two pallets of 2 x 4's and get those moved inside.

Pick up the four sheets of plywood/OSB off the ground that we were using to prevent the scissors lift from digging in so that they can dry out.

Get some of the foam board installed along the back wall so the work tables can be moved from the middle of the room up against the wall.

Relocate the work tables up against the wall.

Have The Woman do some leaf blowing outside around the barn to allow the ground to continue to dry up.

Plus whatever else comes up.

Hope everyone has a great Hump Day ... (y)

Welcome to the fiber gang!
It's remarkable that so much of the rural USA is getting high speed at lower prices than DSL while others are not.
On the Starlink thread:
Except some of us will never have 5G as there is just not the population density to justify it. No cable company offers service where I live and while I do have fiber optic running down my street, the cost is higher and the speeds are slower than Starlink. So it's Starlink for me.

Ted, high speed after slow speed is such a delight.
Interesting that Starlink is making big entry into boat telecommunications also. They have all those satellites up there, clearly multitasking.
2,300 satellites to date and they launch about 50 more on each rocket.
Need quite an air traffic control system, lot of stuff flying around up there. Thankfully pretty high up.

leaves sucked up, golf cart cleaned off and ready for transport tomorrow, just waiting for appliance folks for whom
time is measured in Caribbean time. We be there mon, we be there. When? We be there....
