LS, where you buy geo textile? Looks like you can order thru Lowe’s. Searching shows mostly the garden fabric I bought, guess it’s about the same.
Frederick Brick Works in Frederick has the geo textiles for roads and patios

61°F and partly cloudy this morning, got up to 85° today.

Got the pasture mowed during the late morning. Decided to let some of the dew evaporate first. It was still a little wet when I got started about 09:45, and dry before I finished about 2-1/2 hours later. Quicker than I anticipated. Some of the yellow foxtail was over a foot tall, as I didn't mow back there last week. Not fond of that stuff, and the pasture is full of it. Probably mow the rest from the barn to the road tomorrow morning.

Doug, I heard a news story about a week ago about a road in the southern part of my state that closes twice a year for a mass migration of venomous snakes.
Southern Illinois road set to close due to snake migration

Congrats on the new land, BEF.

Good evening, gents.

LouNY, thanks for milking info. I remember helping a friend milk, when I was in HS. He was helping a neighbor.
We had one milk cow when I was young, hand milked.

BEF,

Assuming you meant "rs" since I was the one talking about geo-tex.

Yes - you can get it through Lowes, although I've never bought geo-tex from them.

I previously bought geo-tex when we redid the driveway was from a local (Ohio) company called Discount Drain (or Drainage) which had multiple locations throughout the state. This time around they were the highest ($748.39) ... which was a little odd given their name ...

Lowes came in second @ $557 or thereabouts (and didn't have it in stock, had to order taking a week or two)

Best price was from local place (W L Tucker Supply Company in Cuyahoga Falls, OH) that specializes in masonry supplies:

They had 12.5' x 432' Mirfai 500X woven geo-tex - which is ODOT rated "Type D" - for $465 per roll.

Mirafi 500X - Road Fabrics, Inc.

Not sure about that.

I've always been told to use a woven fabric on "roadways" for stabilizing aggregate on the subsoil and that's what ODOT calls for:

Ohio - Geotextiles & DOT Specifications - US Fabrics

Whereas the non-woven is more of a filter fabric to prevent soil intrusion on French drains and the like, although from reading the above link, it appears that non-woven is also used on paving applications ... although I'm not exactly sure of the exact application.

Hope that helps.

RS, Thanks, I did mean you.
Guess I could ask my brother, he’s retired ODOT engineer.

The Frederick fair week has started and there are plenty of animals and equipment on display as always. Dennis are you going?

We were going to go tonight, but changed our mind. Probably go next Friday. We are disappointed the fair won’t let 4H clubs do their activities any more, like their cattle sale.
Only individual 4H members take their cows now. They are not there representing 4H. We heard the fair wanted a cut of the Sale profits, so 4H said no. Our boys were in 4H and used to take stuff to the fair. My wife used to take food entries.
We go to eat at Hemps and look at tractors and animals.

I was busy mowing today, got all mowed.

Yes the 4H change is very regrettable. We are not going this year. We had kids in the 4H program and one was a camp counselor at the camp near Jefferson
