good morning all
another nice sunny summer day today

Roy, maybe time to get scanned and some blood tests

Wagtail, sounds like you had fun. Looking forward to your report.

off early to pick up friend and take trailer over to Fort Dix in NJ to retrieve my Gravely garden tractor.
Should be a fun adventure with old friend, plus I get to see his 102 year old Mom when I go.

no-one else is allowed to move to Texas.

favorite quote of the day

nice to see RS's Kubota back in action.

when I moved to NC I knew absolutely no one in the area. My wife had died, I was fairly messed up emotionally, and
I had orchards to plant. Which I did and the world got back on its axis. But what I didn't have that whole time was my "old friends"
which I see I refer to. My three guy friends from high school and one from simply long ago here, met at Meeting.
Reaffirms to me how much I missed my old friends by moving way far away from them.
I'm lucky that I get to go back to a small town that is still fairly small. Other than completely unaffordable housing, it has everything I want.
So I rent this little cottage and dream of tractors.
that's ok to do, isn't it?...

I think of David and Sophie and others who have moved pretty far away.
Very different than retiring to Florida where some of your old friends likely wound up.
So David has built, and continues to build, his own paradise. Thank goodness for Zoom. Really.
Being able to see my sister smile at me from California is a delight.

Drew, as we contemplate moving when I retire, the thought of moving away from friends does come up. Neither of us are native to this area, we moved here not knowing anyone, but we’ve been here since the 80s, so I’ve been here 2/3 of my life. My wife nearly as long.

Not easy decisions.

Used to move in my early days of working every one to two years with my company. We were always so surprised when some of the moving boxes caught up with us sometimes months later. Did not remember having some of those things. After that we spent 17 years in Houston Texas where we adopted our kids and then moved to our Maryland farm.
Today I need to continue to cut grass and brush in between a tree planting of oaks and walnut trees mostly. We have several thousand trees planted that are getting taller every year. Some are 30 to 40 ft tall.

Good Morning
It’s 67 with a high of 88 forecast under a bright sun.

Yesterday was a busy day, our daughter the nurse took my wife to the hospital for her back surgery where they removed a disc. I am astounded that she was home later in the afternoon, and as I type is walking down the lane to get the mail. It’s at least a half mile walk round trip. Daughter spent the night here, but went home this morning, as everything seems to be going well.

I’ve got to make a short trip to Newport News later this morning, planning to fly the little plane to the airport in Philly. It’s less than a 10 minute flight from Doylestown, or an hour drive. Plane uses a lot more gas than the Prius, and I can’t stop at Home Depot (or anywhere else) but I can leave later and get home sooner, although she seems pretty independent already.

Good Morning!!!! 73F @ 5:15AM. Sunny. High 99F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.

Sounds like a miracle outcome, Paul. Thank goodness!

I came to California not knowing anyone, and when I retired did it again when I moved here. Made lots of friends along the way, some good ones where we still look out for each other. It's great you're getting another chance with yours, Drew.

Got the muffin fan installed on the pump house Ethernet switch, and it seems to be making a difference.

Spent the rest of the day soaking cyilinder heads in the ultrasonic cleaner, then blasting them with powdered glass. They'll go to the machine shop today for new seats and valves. Had a little help in the kitchen with cleaning up...

Got a call yesterday from a neighbor asking for some help unloading a large welder from his son's truck. It turned out to be an ancient motor/generator set with an old Jeep engine in it. Glad I took the time to put the box blade on the back of the tractor for ballast, 'cause that thing was heavy!

Also gonna take the new red bike to the DMV to get the title transfered, and paperwork for one I picked up last year as well. Not looking forward to the line.

Hang in there, gang, Friday's comin'!

64°F and light fog this morning, going up to 91° today. Warming back up to more typical August weather for the next few days.

I've lived in this area my whole life. Honestly, I've never really seriously contemplated moving somewhere else, until last year when The Wife and I considered moving to central Texas. In the end, we didn't, so I'm still here. Aside from the asinine politics of my state, southern Illinois is a pretty nice place to live.

Good morning, gents.
