Good (Friday) morning. Winter's back! Overnight Low was -1.1C with a frost. It's clear with a breeze and currently 9C with a predicted High of only 11C.

A couple of weeks ago one of my neighbours asked if I could move an expected delivery with my FEL when it arrives. There's been no phone call since but I noticed, as you do, a delivery lorry this morning arrive at his property. No call as of yet. Standing by.

Not much else on, but it's early in the day. Take care all.

69°F and cloudy this morning, got up to 88° today. We had some more thunderstorms roll through mid-afternoon, and got some considerable rainfall from them. Lots of lightning and thunder ran all three dogs down to the basement.

Took the day off today for a mid-day interview with another company. Interview was with the president of the company, and went very well. Will go back one more time for committee interview. Have a good feeling about this.

Drew, my Wife has a purple orchid that she got from a local nursery, who told her that they don't last very long. We've had it for three or four years now, sits next to a south-facing window in the sunroom, and has been in constant bloom the whole time. The blooms will start to fall off of one spike just as the other is starting to bloom. Whatever she's doing, she's doing it right.

Good evening, gents.
I hope if you change jobs, that you get a job that challenges you and is good for you and your wifey. Hopefully safer, and not in a crime ridden bad area.

72F and partly cloudy @ 23:00, heading down to around 67F for the overnight low. High temp hit 87.4F here today, was beautiful if a bit warm in the sun.

Hopper, 2 nyjer, and 1 suet feeder refilled first thing.

Loaded paper and cardboard recyclables into the car for The Woman after that. She dropped those off this evening down at the church while She was out making a squash delivery to some relatives.

And brought me back an iced Butter Pecan from Dunkin' ... :giggle:

Spent pretty much all day screening compost and manure, 15 more bucketloads of the mix delivered down to the east side of the expanded garden area. Should be able to get the east side finished up tomorrow.

Did inspect the front lawn - its long enough to mow again but I figured I'd put it off for at least another day.

Did not swap out any implements, buried pipe also not pulled (think I can get it with the small chain, which I'll hopefully run across here in the near future ... :giggle: )

Neighbor came down with another delivery of manure, liking this delivery method much better ... (y):

Runs through the screener much easier after the beaters have sliced and diced it.

Got the fallen poplar tree shoved further out of the way so he'd have a better path and could maneuver the 4020 a little easier.

Looking forward to the (slightly) cooler temps over the next four days.

Hope everyone had a great day ... (y)

Gas price war at I10 and hwy 77

Only needs to come down another $1.75 to get it where we started from.

Good thing Pops ain't here anymore ... he'd happily tell ya all about how when he first opened he bought gas wholesale for 9 cents a gallon ... and sold it for 11 ... and that was "full service" ... with all the trimmings ...

Of course, that was also back in '29 ... ;)

good morning all
fogged up windows, 70 going to 85 today in clouds

out making a squash delivery
RS, I think your wife is going to have a full time job doing this based on the number of your plants.
I can't keep up with four plants; how many squash plants did you finally wind up with?

have something fun to do today. Meeting another elder from our church at bank and together we are unfolding a 1722 parchment document in the safe deposit
box ever so carefully. We think it is the original document for the beginning of our Quaker Meeting.
I was putting an updated digital memory stick in the box when I saw the 1956 envelope marked Old Docs.

Well....as soon as I unfolded this ancient paper I knew first I shouldn't be touching it with my bare fingers, second I need paper weights to hold down the corners and third
it didn't appear to be cracking yet after 300 years of being folded in quarters. Our job is to take a good high rez picture and confirm exactly what the document says.
Very cool old thing, including four areas signed with red wax seals. Old parchment is usually scraped animal skin, very thick, not like paper at all.

I love history and this is something nobody here seems to realize we have had all this time.
We called a local museum and got directions on handling the paper and was told to leave it there, unfolded if possible, since the hvac in bank vault was clearly good for it.
Problem is box is not big enough for us to unfold it.

I personally want to take the whole thing to a high end framer and get the doc up on the wall at church. I'm sure framing/preserving this isn't going to be cheap.
This is our 300th year and no one knew it.

So today I go way back in time and I bet I recognize the name of the local farm families who signed. I've now mowed the graveyard enough to recognize the names....

I know some of you don't like fresh tomatoes but gosh a big thick slice of a dark tomato last night was simply marvelous.
Going to give my friend this morning some tomatoes and squash. I don't have freezer space to keep it so it's the give away season.
As your neighbors see you coming with boxes of squash and they think not more.... ;)
