74F and clear @ 22:15, heading down to a low of around 63F overnight. High hit 88.3F so we did beat the predicted high of 86F.

Water remaining plants out front first thing.

Then refill hopper feeder, also one suet feeder.

Replaced bag on Japanese Beetle trap, old one was full.

Got around 4 or 5 of the Shasta Daisies moved out of the garage but did not get them moved around back.

Finished up 4' x 6' chickenwire cage then headed up to the shop and cut 4 five foot long rebar stakes. Then delivered those around back to the area where the tomato would be planted.

Got the tomato planted and well watered in with 2 gallons of MiracleGro, was kind of unwieldy handling (32" tall) ... would have been worse if it hadn't been staked. Woman assisted which helped a lot. Did not get it caged.

Woman rolled up the wire from the 3 levels of electric fence I took down on some old empty MIG wire spools.

Then She weeded the corner of the flower bed where that last summer squash will go.

Also weeded the area down at the south end of the bed where one of the hydrangeas will go. We removed the 3 hemlock plants from there today and planted the 4 "Blue Barlow" Double Columbines.

Actually, She's been doing a lot more weeding that just that:

Irises seem to be doing fairly decent, but not many blooms so far. They could stand a good watering, have not really been watered this year other than just the rain we've gotten. May do that tomorrow.

Likely will start mulching the flower bed tomorrow too - which should help some with moisture retention ... although I did find out today that even though the top layer of soil is dust if you dig down an inch or so the soil is holding a good amount of moisture.

I took the 3 hemlock plants down to drainage ditch by the "creek crossing" in the woods and replanted them there, each got 2 gallons of water. Soil was actually fairly moist and easy to dig (sandy/silty):

Finished trimming along the electric fence line east side of flower bed.

Took 2 1/2 five gallon buckets of old cat litter and stuffed those down a couple of groundhog holes by the porch off the kitchen. Have not seen any groundhogs or coons lately.

Compostables taken up to the pile.

Got stakes set for west edge of garden area and ran a string line. Leaving 10' between the garden and flower bed, which should be enough to make the turns and get the Kubota in there.

Gathered up most of the pulled weeds and took them up to the compost pile.

Got that last summer squash planted in the corner of the flower bed.

Sprayed along the string line to mark out the west edge of garden. Area looks like it will be 36' x 54' at this point.

Also sprayed along the fence line by the flower bed.

Took a break around 19:00 to come in for dinner, had a bowl of that ham and bean soup. Had another one for a nightcap when I finished up for the day and came inside.

The typical day lilies have started to bloom:

Think I might have a bowl of ice cream with some hot fudge before I turn in and hit the rack.

Hope everyone had a great day ... (y)

Just ran a 10ga extension cord to basement freezer. Got 12ga running in from generator. Right now predicting power restored by Tomorrow night. Running on my Honda 2000i . It’s probably running low on fuel.

Probably be off tomorrow. Looks like I might be doing electric work so I don’t have to run extension cords at every outage. If I can find a decent transfer switch. We don’t have many outages, and usually they get fixed in a few hours. Was surprised to see the estimated restoration time.

65° now, dew point 64° High’s in the upper 80’s and sunny today.

Storms came through last evening, lots of wind, thunder and lightening only lasted about 45 minutes but dropped .79” rain 👍 don’t think we had any damage.

@BEF, hope you get power back soon. Reminds me haven’t run generator for a while.
@Mostly, I do wear a mask when I mow like that.

No plans for today except to just take it easy.

Enjoy your day everyone
Stay safe and healthy

Prayers for those in need, our country and peace around the world

Slept a little in Lazyboy. Turned generator off an hour ago to give it a break. Whole house generator across road is noisy. Birds just beginning to chirp. Getting lighter outside. Trucks going by real noisy with door open. Doves moaning.
After hooking up basement freezer last night, moved most of stuff from basement fridge freezer section to it. Might start generator again soon.

66 going to 90.

BEF, hope you get power back. Our weatherman showed your storm and talked about the damaging winds. We got a piece of the same front, lots of wind, but just the usual for a t-storm...finally got some rain, too.

LS, glad you have a bumper crop of apples...didn't take too long, eh? 😁

RNG, sounds like your trip was fun...nice to see a rocket take off.

PJ, what a great paddle. Anywhere along that stretch that people can jump off those cliffs into deep water?

I caught up on mowing...took 5 hours on the zero. NH, I should have worn a mask...been sneezing already this morning.

good morning all
yesterday's storm went below us, never got a drop of rain.
going to make mowing this week a dusty affair.

Hot! 70 out now going to 90 today. Summer time.

off to see epidural doc this morning, hopefully they will approve me for another shot.
Of course if i go right out and mow that graveyard for 8 hours like I did last time, who knows.

Toppop feel better today.
Popgadget, hope the alligators have left. Boy am I creating a list for you.

very successful day at golf cart place. I couldn't fit male tab A of adapter into female tab B of wheel, so dealer took one look at it,
and promptly starting pulling off the rubber part of the adapter. Lo and behold....rubber was a shipping container of sorts to hold 6 small screws in.
Here I was trying to push the rubber in the holes, wrong. Once he pulled off the rubber part and all the screws fell out, of course it all fit together nicely.

and....about more power. He says he thinks my friends ran the battery down since cart should continue to climb hills, he said he has sold hundreds of golf carts that have gone
to the Poconos and Catskills. Ok. Here's the interesting tech part. YES, one can hop up a cart.
Plan 1 is to replace controller and some other part and simply move more amps through system, that was about 1500 bucks. No.
Plan 2, while "direct drive" motor, it does use a differential and one can replace the differential with different gears. Like going from a 3.30 rear end to a 4.11.
He said that works, almost another grand.
so one can do it but unless I use it more on hills than I expect to, not worth the money.

I took my somewhat handicapped friend with me, he can't walk more than ten feet, and pulled my car up right to the shop, which brought everyone out to tell me I couldn't park there.
When I told them I wasn't stupid enough to park there, blocking everything, they all laughed. And I for sure backed up and reparked.
I'm towing the cart over to his house in the next week and we have some walking trails in Doylestown we are going to explore on the cart together. He is desperate to get out of house and go places. I asked him if golf carts were allowed on those trails. Why not? ........well we'll see if he can make bail for me.

I did spend 300 bucks for a policy from Progressive on the golf cart. Primarilly because I tow it. so I have an insurance card to show Officer Bob when he stops me for using an unlicensed something in his domain.
