Similarly, there are some folks who would prefer to do little to NOTHING (to the point of being obstructionist) ... beyond offering "thoughts and prayers" in hindsight.

And merely thinking/praying harder is probably not a viable response ... at least from a public policy perspective (although some seem inclined to it)...

The point is, don't mess with peoples' rights...and make punishment so severe, scum like this murderer is Texas would be less likely. Insane people...not much you can do except lock them up after the fact
Bottom line, if you don't like AR-15's...simple, don't buy one. But don't step on my rights because you don't like that right.

It is being reported in various media sources that a school resource officer approached the guy before he entered two classrooms. I'd say questions are being asked as to how and why the guy got past the officer posted at the school if that's what actually happened. There's probably school security video that shows exactly.

Texas DPS disputed that report, just watched the press conference live on ABC.

Suffice it to say it's an ongoing investigation ... and that could change.

Got the saw covered. Didn't notice the ducks while I was covering it, happened to look over and noticed they were headed up towards the bird feeder ... so evidently I disturbed them ...

USPS dropped off plants after I came back inside.

So probably going to work getting those potted up, assuming I can get some more potting soil made before it does start raining.

Interesting comments I’ll only add do you gentlemen know one can fire a lever action rifle faster than an AR 15. I have seen it done. As Roy said an AR 15 is not an assault rifle. The loss of life in Texas is horrible and in no way am I trying to say that it is not. The problem starts at home with the family and is my opinion where we need to start

The AR 15 speed posted was 5 rounds per second, the fastest lever action rifle on YouTube I could find was 10 rounds in 4 seconds. That would be half as slow.

The definition of "Assault" rifle is "Automatic", which is between 11 to 15 rounds per second or twice as fast as an AR15 or 4 times faster than lever action.

Drew what is the fastest response time for the police. As you can see if the response is in minutes instead of in seconds it's too long.
