64° right now...high in the mid-70's and calling for rain this morning, potential thunderstorms this afternoon.

Got a presentation to put together for work...not due until tomorrow but may as well get a start on it. Too wet for outside work anyway...

Good Morning!!!! 64F @ 5:30AM. Sunshine to start, then a few afternoon clouds. High 94F. Winds S at 10 to 15 mph.
Still a broken record for the 10-day.
Hope the clouds don't get in the way of the eclipse, and that I remember to go outside and look!

I try to keep the house at 77F year round, but with wood heat in the winter, it's often cooler or warmer than that. In the warmer months, though, especially if there's smoke in the air, the A/C stays at 77F all day and all night.

Yesterday was split between tinkering with the tractor and the home network. Tried out some suggestions from the TBN StarLink thread, but made no progress. And learned that the PTO shaft on the old Bushog is too short to work with the Pat's Quick Hitch on the tractor. Had to pull one side off to replace some bent bolts, too. Thinking about pulling off the Quick Hitch, but the added six inches of engagement still might not be enough.

Sure was a nice evening on the back porch, with mild temperatures and just a slight breeze. There was even a boat on the reservoir dragging around a pair of inner tubes with people in them. Brrrr! That water would be too cold for me! Then the mosquitos showed up to spoil the party. The barn swallows are back, but their impressive aerobatics aren't enough to catch all the blood suckers. Sure are fun to watch, though.

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend.

Prom went fairly well for the daughter. The young man's parents and us went with the kids to eat, then I dropped them off at the prom. The boy's mom offered to pick them up. I'm really relieved that he doesn't have his license yet, so that they would get driven there and home.

I worked on the garden yesterday morning. Pulled the white onions and put them on a board in the sun to dry out. Tilled the non planted areas to kill some weeds, watered. Poor plants are getting beat down by these high solar UV days combined with high temps. I have a lot of room to plant more stuff, but not sure what to plant. If we don't get some rain soon, it will be hard to keep it alive. No rain in forecast.

Air compressor uses a thin serpentine multi V belt. These are difficult to align. It kept jumping it's track. I worked on it for about 1/2 hour. Seems to be holding now. Still leave it unplugged. It had some sparks flying around in the motor. Not sure if it was the centrifugal starter or what. A friend has a similar compressor to give me, but it is 125 miles away....with the price of gas as it is, it makes everything you do, think about fuel costs.

Steiner Beast: Mowed Friday. I just want to say again, that the Steiner 72" mower deck is awesome. The big roller in the back, and it's ability to eject the grass works great.

Good Morning
It’s 68 with visible sun, but partly cloudy. It’s humid and going to the upper 70’s with a chance of rain.

Yesterday started with checking out the recordings of Friday evening’s get together. Next was to pull some flat tires off the progressive mower. It’s got 10 15x6.00-6 tires, and they are all getting dry rotted. The rear two were off the bead and full of clippings. I wrestled the first one off the rim, I hate working on small tires, even with the HF small tire machine, they are a PIA. Got both the rim and the tire cleaned up and put back together only to find that it blows small bubbles out of the cracks in the sidewalls.
I ordered a couple of tires from Amazon, there about 30% cheaper for Carlisle brand than TSC was for Chinesium. I thinking about sliming the ones that aren’t a problem (yet) but are the same age as the ones I’m fighting with. What are the collective thoughts on that? A waste of time and money or a viable way to get a few more years?

Wife came back from the grocery with 6 large chicken breasts, I think she forgets that it’s just the two of us now. So I marinated them and put them out on the grill, and steamed some fresh broccoli. Would have been a nice dinner for 6. I did invite a friend to come over, but I see chicken salad on a near future menu.

Heading out now to pick up some 6 gallon buckets from a friends winery. He got a thousand gallons of Chilean grape juice, and it was cheaper in pails than 330 gallon totes.

Morning all 70 going up to 80 and will supposedly see the sun today.
Did about 4 hours of weedwacking and got most of the garlic mustard invasive. Still a bit more to do.

Battery lasts me about 600 feet, went through 2, recharged and 2 more plus my smaller 5AH.
Wish the batteries lasted longer.

Party at the distillery was fun nice tour and very gracious hosts/owners. A few good Rye Whisky drinks and they put out a nice spread. Though I can't eat any of that, they did get me a vegan cupcake!

Today is pool time, need to go get salt. And also get more mulch for big garden to clean it up. Did hit the walkways with the weedwacker.

Waiting until it gets dryer to trim out the bushes, they are growing like mad with all this rain.

BEF - sorry about the flooding, that is going to be some mess to clean up :-(

Gale - glad the sons interview went well. And it is so great what you did for Ted.

Gas was $5.09 for plus ---

Stay safe and be well,

This still is certainly bigger and nicer than the ones my neighbors had in MA.
The Rye Whisky is really good, since I have never been a Rye fan, was quite surprised.

Like the barrels.

Went out this morning and dug the leaves out of the culvert end. It has wire over the opening to keep leaves out, and it just clogged.

Didn’t see water in the building when peaking in thru windows.

Church service went well. MIL goes to a Spanish speaking congregation, and they have a girl who translates for us. They did have me lead a couple songs in English.

Roast beef lunch is being prepared. Yum.

Good heavens! Jumping worms? What's next? We didn't have fire ants until they imported a load of timber from South America. Came ashore at Port of Brisbane and they haven't been able to stop them despite an expensive ongoing eradication program. My daughter works for them. Not at my place yet but about 30 - 40 klm away.
