Ken, wife is getting a real alligator test today, instead of relying on the home tests. But I think she is getting better. I mean she was so sick, I had to carry her down to the kitchen so she could make me breakfast. Just kidding.

Hope leg gets better.

I probably forgot to turn the mics off last week.

76 and partly cloudy, headed to 81. We got .1” of rain yesterday and last night. Better than none.
Went to Outback for dinner, I had the ribs, everything was ok but everything is better at Texas Roadhouse.
Got my apple tree uprooted and removed this morning, bittersweet job since my mom gave us this tree, my late wife loved it too. These were the first blooms in 2015.

Good morning to all! Low of 48°, going up to 78°. Windy again! Gusts 45-50 mph, continuous at 25-30. No rain in the 7 day forecast..... and the prediction is for 'below average' precipitation for the next month.... already 2" below the normal.....

Today is not going to be good for the wildfires, grew to over 113,000 acres overnight. A couple more small fires have started. Hope they don't blow up...

RS... here is a pic of the marigold seeds we have collected.

This gallon bag is about half of what we collected last year. The bag weighs more than the seeds! The cinder blocks bordering the bed are planted with marigolds, haven't seen any popping up yet.

Drew, I won't even attempt to plant a lawn.... takes a tremendous amount of water to get one to grow. The wild grasses will survive on natural precipitation, but are very expensive to buy seed.... last summer I checked on a "native grass seed mix" ---- $39 per pound, which only covers 200 sq. ft.
NOPE! Not gonna happen. I have become quite proficient at doing what is called 'xeriscaping' ..... utilizing low water use plants / shrubs / trees that tolerate winds, arid conditions, and sun. Lots of mulch and stone help retain moisture.
Nice stool! Glad you were able to win the auction.

Ken, glad you didn't get more severely injured! Didn't sound good to begin with.... be careful!

RNG, good to hear you had an enjoyable trip! That's a lot of van's out there. What's the furthest traveled to get there? Never knew the VW vans were capable of off roading.

No outside work today... don't feel like being sand-blasted. The next couple of days are supposed to be nice, so everything can wait a day. Might take a nap...

Hope everyone has a great start to the week!

Roy, I have that dump cart. Haven’t used it in years, is in the back of my barn.
Before I had tractor with FEL it was used a lot. I hand dug in front of my porch 45 ft x 3 ft x about 1 ft deep dirt out hauled it away, and dug nice dirt from along my creek and filled that area. Pulled many loads with my old wheel horse lawn tractor.
Why I eventually got a backhoe.

I did unearth another horizontal surface, somewhat rewarding

Zoom Happy Hour this afternoon.

56F and cloudy @ 13:15, heading up to a high of maybe 63F for the day. Some chance the sun may make an appearance later today around 16:00. No highs below 60F in the Ten Day, one high of 80F, and no lows lower than 42F ...

Managed to get enough soil sifted last night to get the other 72 hole planting tray filled, only got half of it planted though. Will finish that up in short order and water it so the germination process can start.

Squeak was very interested in that whole process and appeared to want to help. I think mostly she just wanted to be held though ... ;)

Was past 03:00 before I climbed in the rack, so up late this morning.

Tomorrow is trash (and recycle) day so will need to get the garbage hauled up to the road, took the recyclables up yesterday.

Probably work on cleaning out around the south existing blueberry bush and get the other two new ones planted.

Beyond that, probably the dahlias that have sprouted and are growing outside to the front entryway so they can catch the rain that is due in tomorrow. That will free up more space inside for additional seed starter trays.

Also still have some fall and spring bulbs that need planted, so some headway there would be good.

Have early appointment with accountant tomorrow, so a little work on viewing the paperwork I have gathered for that later this evening.

Hope everyone is having an enjoyable, productive, and safe Monday ... (y)

Kyle, results of the new battery test. 4th time using the EGO 5AH lawnmower battery. Yard is Bermuda grass cutting same height as last week taking 1-2" off top.
Total time to mow the yard 41 minutes 28 seconds still had 1/4 battery power left. I gauged the amount left by how long the quick charger went off of 25% to the flashing 50%, about 60 seconds.
I blow the grass on the top of the grass (right side of pic) quickly after I mow it eliminates bagging. I know you use it to heat up your browns in your compost pile. I was going to get a new compost bin but Costco sold out the week they went on sale. My old compost bin let rain water in on the top lid and it was a stinky, fly infested mess during a wet month last year.
