Slight change in plans:

Woman went over to neighbor’s/friend’s for a haircut and dinner/girl’s night with old friends.

So after dropping her off for that, and dumping the trash in the container up at the road, I went ahead and ran up to Menards and picked up order.

Birds will be happy once I get the feeders refilled tomorrow.

Order was short two of one item, so another trip for that (cat litter) at some point, once it comes in.

Grabbed dinner on way back.

Good Morning!!!! 45F @ 4:00AM. Sunny to partly cloudy. High 64F. Winds NNW at 5 to 10 mph.
No need to mention the 10-day.

Sorry to hear the snow blower turned out to be a stone thrower, Drew. but it sounds like it at least started easily, right?

Years ago I put a Timney trigger on a M77 and never liked it. It has a little jump in it right before it broke. Please let us know how you like the new one, Eric, as it would be great to pull out an old thorn. BTW, to even up the international trade imbalance, last month a couple of Shield RDSs made it over this way...

There was a movers strike when I first came to California, David, and I spent the first month with just a lawn chair and an air mattress for furniture, along with a few pots and pans I picked up at Walmart to help keep myself fed. But at least the half duplex I rented had a dishwasher, the kind that sat under the kitchen counter and operated with a push of a button. Here I am all these years later seriously considering bailing out of the state and the lack of a real dishwasher in your caretakers quarters has dashed any hope I had of moving to Hawaii so I could help you out on your next project.😂

Though I still have more to do, gasket scraping yesterday wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. First I tried a plastic scraper blade, which got laughed at, then a heat gun with the same result. The gasket didn't think a MAAP gas torch was very funny, though, as it turned all white and glowed around the edges before it almost fell off by itself. A fine wire brush and a paper towel with contact cleaner finished the job nicely. Managed to get the timing cover back on, then remount the diode board, alternator, and ignition trigger, and that was it for the day. This is turning out to be one of those jobs best savored in small doses.

On a brighter note, the smart doorbell I sent back to Ubiquiti for repair two weeks ago came back as a brand new unit Saturday, and fired right up yesterday when I installed it. Nice to have a camera looking out the front door again, even though it's a rare event anyone ever goes to it other than myself.

Here's hoping everyone gets their week started off on the right foot, or snow boot...
Move to Texas! Bring your solar panels and generator too. Also, won't need a license for your 枪. Not as nice weather as Hawaii, but more room to ride. I hate scraping gaskets.....

PJS, sorry about the young man.

Alien, I hope your daughter gets her liberty/well being back. Bad marriages are sad situations.

BEF, that's a lot of Arkansas trips.

I have so many projects I need to do outside.....but I hate working in the cold.

Old Miller welder roughneck 1e needs the Kohler K301 engine torn down. I did go to my friend's place down south last Saturday. We have a mutual friend who is a certified Miller technician. He uses the area behind my friend's barn as a engine driven welder graveyard. There's a Roughneck 2E back there, that I believe has the adapter plate I need for my project.....but looking at the 2E, it also offers DC stick welding....so maybe I put my Kohler (if I get it rebuilt) in place of the presumably bad Tecumseh engine....I could have AC/DC stick welding. The 1e does not have DC.

Eric, I'm listening to "The Guns at Last Light" by Rick Atkinson. He spends a bit of time telling about the hardships the British endured from shortages caused by the war, some of which, stayed in effect until the 50's. The gov't had to pass a lot of laws to try and keep people/cheaters in line. Only 2 oz of cheese per month per person. He also says in many words, that not too many people liked old Monty.

Prayers for our team, our country, and for healing of sicknesses.

Where's Mostly?

PJ can you use magnets or metal detectors?
They are nylon. I had no more luck than when the grass was still green. I'm starting to think that she miscounted how many she used.
PJ your weather is starting before ours. If I remember the average snowfall in STL is like 20 or 22 inches per winter, 18" almost a winters worth.
We are well behind where we should be by this point for winter precipitation. When the dogs run across the back yard, they are kicking up dust. It's been very dry here. I'm just hoping that if they are wrong on the predictions, it's on the low side. I still remember the "Blizzard of '82" when a dusting changed to 1-4", and we awoke Sunday morning to 28". Not interested in a repeat of that.

20°
Got the pallets out of the open shed while ground was frozen, then decided to fill pellet box on porch before the 54° weather and rain makes a mess.
Temp forecasts for Friday is now lowering, might not make 50s Friday, will get cold down to 20°, so might get ice before the rain stops.
Maybe snow next Sunday. 5 more days for it all to change.

Son called and talked and talked. His girlfriend was busy.

Tonight’s state picture is Arizona. First visited in early 90s before kids. Some older retired friends of ours had a winter home in sun city (same developer as don’s). In February it was in the 70s or 80s in Phoenix, They took us to the canyon and it was ice and snow.
In 2017, when we had to take our youngest to AR to register as a freshman, I said we are half way there, let’s go another 1000 miles west so the boys can see the Grand Canyon so we did. Hit a few new states that trip, OK, NM, and KS. Drove real close to Where LS lives. In June it was cold at the canyon, we bought sweatshirts there because we didn’t have anything for the cold. We only hiked a little ways down, now wish we had gone a little further down. We left there and went past 4 corners, saw Mesa verde in CO, visited Durango for the 2nd time, before racing home 2000 miles because we had a graduation party scheduled.

-2° right now...high, like yesterday, in the mid-20's...
Also, like yesterday, it probably won't make it to the mid-20's... actual high was 22° and breezy

   / Good morning!!!! #145,020
Good morning, low temp 14 and going to 30°F. Wind SE 13 mph. A few flurries.

North Bay trip this morning, 8 stops.

When I get back from that I may put the tire chain back on. The good thing is it is a front chain and not nearly as heavy as the rears.

You guys posting the pics of your travels through the 'states, keep posting. It is the cheapest touristing I can possibly take, seeing as I am 'not welcome' there any more. I haven't been 'officially' kicked out, but the US customs and the INS guys don't much care for foreigners that own pot stocks which I do and they don't like people that use pot, which I do AND it is legal here. As long as it stays illegal at the Federal level I will not be welcome there. Rather than have them officially send me back, I just stay away.

Have a safe day all
