33° right now...high about 40...really weird for Vermont, this time of the year.
Between Tylenol and heat, the shoulder is doing better than yesterday...I'll be trying ice packs today. Still painful when I move my left arm...just not as bad as it was...
No plans...do need a dump run, but it's closed until Monday.
Stepdaughter did the shopping yesterday, so no need to go anywhere today

good morning all
New Year's Eve, we made it through another one....
I don't think I've stayed up til midnight in 20 years.

woke up again with sniffles. Figured why not so took Covid test.
15 minutes later, no line, all is well. Good way to start the day for sure.

off to step brother's home this morning for cup of coffee and taking them some local apples.
Then off to church to install snow markers.

finished the little weather station I made for a friend.
though I'm really not....needs two tiny locating nails at top of rain gauge. Need to get a small
box of brads. Stainless would be nice but unlikely.

I bought two of those thermometers, the smaller one in my garage to show me how cold it is in there.
Stainless cases, well rated by Mr Bezos. I found them easy to read.
The thermometer, built in China of course, but to a good spec apparently,
shows a green zone of 64 to 76 degrees.
I guess that's their idea of the "comfort zone" on the household thermostats.

Being in the green, interesting concept.
Something tells me the squirrels aren't cold at 55, or the deer.
this thermometer is only for humans...because we don't have fur to keep us warm.
Which is what keeps Lands End in business.

Have a nice star bit in my small Bosch driver which will drive those
3 1/2 inch screws into a big tree outside my friend's kitchen window.

Good Morning.
47 and going to 55, slight chance of rain, another overcast damp dreary day.

Yesterday started off with a good news / bad news scenario. I have been having some pain and numbness in the right side of my back, around under my arm to the right side of my chest. All areas that were crushed in my accident, so I thought it was an after effect, which was credible to me, as it was just a worsening of the symptoms that I had for years. The good news is that it wasn’t related at all. The bad news is that I’ve got Shingles. Overall I’ll take it as good news. Called the doctor and got a prescription for an anti viral medication, but now I know it will all go away.

Last night being trash night, I did build my toter lifter out of stuff I had in the shop. A couple of pieces of flat stock, a piece of square tubing, a piece of angle, some old anti-scalp wheels from the Lazer, and a piece of old ground rod for an axle. Everything was put together with the swell new TIG welder, the ground rod was drilled and tapped on each end in the lathe for bolts to retain the wheels which were bored to fit their new axle. Flat stock was bent in the press brake. It worked great to load and unload the cans heavy with Christmas trash and recycling.

The angle cradles the axle of the toter, you step on the other end to lift it, then roll it forward to the carryall and lower the toter on to the bracket. Overall it was a fun little project that helps to justify all the tools.

Not sure what today will bring, looks like no music going to happen, we aren’t going out, and haven’t in decades. Our traditional way to welcome the new year is to wake up at sunrise as we do every day, having gone to sleep well before midnight.
I suspect that many of the GM crowd celebrate the same tradition.

Good Morning!!!! 40F @ 4:45AM. Partly cloudy skies. High 51F. Winds NW at 5 to 10 mph.

I'm not surprised by your Dish experience, Rich. One thing they are good at is raising the monthly rate, though.

The number of CV19 hospitalizations is up sharply here this week, but still nowhere near the peak last September. Only one reported Omicron case, but then they also admitted that very few cases were tested for type.

I'm reading some good ideas on the trash can haulers, Tom & Paul. I've been lifting my can into the dump bed, and it seems to get a little heavier every year...

Culligan never even offered salt delivery here. Too far to travel, I guess.

To state the obvious, the trip got cut short. Wednesday we awoke to heavy snow, big fat flakes, so we enjoyed breakfast then went for a short hike. We looked like snowmen when we got back. It stopped without much accumulation, so we made a run into town and did some window shopping and enjoyed the Christmas decorations. But when I tried to back into the parking spot back at the cabin, the rear brakes locked up for some reason. Then when I pulled forward again, the brake pedal went to the floor. Not good news in the mountains.

Yesterday my cabin mate got news that their sister, who is in hospice, had taken a turn for the worse, so they packed up and went home. I felt like a tiny pea in a big tin can there alone, to I came home, too. Except the batteries in the truck were too weak to start it. More good news. Got it going with a jump, but was a little nervous coming back down the canyon with the brakes being flaky. Seemed to work OK, but now they're pulsing pretty badly. Fluid needs changing, and now it looks like it's time for new rotors and pads as well.

No plans for New Years, same as most years. No resolutions, either. Hope everyone enjoys theirs...

Good morning! 46 now, 51 later.

Happy New Year!

We will spend a quiet night at home. May have a glass of Sagamore Rye as a toast to the new year, well before midnight. The only way I will see midnight is if nature calls about that time 🤣

Got home from dinner last night, got out of the truck, heard a hissing noise. Seems I need to deal with a flat left front tire today.

Everyone stay safe out there!

Good morning! 66˚F heading to the upper 70s, partly cloudy. Last day of the year and home PT. I get discharged at noon, just in time to start advanced PT (torture) Monday. I'm currently on the Knee flex machine easing the knee to warm-up.

Blackeye peas and cornbread on the menu for New Years. We also will not be staying up, unless the neighborhood on the other side of ours decides to pop fireworks till midnight, then we will stay up to comfort Whipper. I think we have some drugs for Whipper on nights like this, may have to do a search.

Popgadget, yes, That would be good news on the shingles, better than the alternative of never ending old age problems that just get worse. Nifty can pick-up.

Drew, I don't think the rain gauge will be very accurate under the tree and the top not above the wood bracket.

Ron you must have had a lot of determination to go to that many stores.
