Busy weekend for me. Got a haircut. Went to the model flying club for Christmas bbq. Flew one of my planes. Washed and chamoied the Mustang. Ranger needs done but I can only manage one at a time. Wrapped some Christmas presents for little grandkids. Took dogs for a ride on mobility scooter. Trip to tip early tomorrow then to Brisbane to see family and g'kids. Covid is ongoing worry at the moment.
Lots of mowing to do.
Plumber and electrician coming on Wednesday. Also a bloke to install 4 skylights. He wants to start real early to beat the heat. He can start as early as he likes as far as I'm concerned. Probably only get one skylight done per day methinks.
Be good to get done before Christmas.

When I take my hearing aids out before going to bed, I'm so near deaf that I normally don't even hear thunder, but this morning at 2 a.m. a clap of thunder was loud enough to make me jump and become wide awake. I didn't hear any more thunder until 3:20 a.m. and even then it wasn't especially loud. But anyway, I stayed up and it appears that the rain is over, so I just went out and poured about .65" of rain out of the gauge. This is our first rain this month.

57° and rain for Graduation Day. Glad it’s not snow. Noticed yesterday the front tires on Honda getting pretty smooth. Hope we get it back ok. Should have put new tires on before he came to school last fall.

After graduation stopping at another friends house to change clothes before heading east. Used to golf with him in MD before he moved down here.

Buppies...keep those feet up.

good advice, let yourself heal

and for you Navy guys, glad to see this big old girl getting fixed up.

This magnificent ship came up the Delaware, I think at night intentionally, towed by tugs,
while I still had my Bertram at Philadelphia Marine center. And for several years thereafter, until I took our boat
back down to the Chesapeake, cruising slowly past this battleship at rest always gave me goosebumps.

The New Jersey was always part of my "tourist tour" where
I went down the PA side and back up the NJ side. A trip that included the large Camden Delmonte green bean plant on the River and a final turn around at the Trenton "Makes" bridge. Used to be a big sign on the bridge something like What Trenton Makes the World Takes. Used to be a big GM plant there making moldings for cars.
I believe some wag climbed up on that bridge once and crossed out the Takes and painted on Rejects. That got cleaned up in a hurry.

Spent a lot of time on this River. The picture where they show Philadelphia off to the left in the distance is just about where the tourist
duckboat got run over by the coal barge and all those folks drowned. Stupid boats just aren't that sea worthy and big ships still go through there, pushing
coal up to the Trenton NJ power plant. And chemical barges. 3-4 knot current at times, tidal river.
Folks have the whole River usually, deep part is pretty wide, but insist on boating in the center ship channel.
Until someone invents brakes for ships that's pretty risky. I always liked to stay on the starboard side, just like driving on the right,
just inside the deep water line on my chartplotter. Then I only had to worry about logs in the river. Always had to be on the lookout for aquatic IEDs.

Seeing a city skyline from the water is pretty neat. Some would say it's the prettiest view.

Good Morning!!!! 36F @ 5:00AM. Cloudy skies early, then partly cloudy this afternoon. High around 50F. Winds light and variable.
The 10-day is showing sunny weather through Monday, then anywhere between a quarter and an inch of rain every day for the balance of the period. All with not nearly as much wind as the last two systems, so wonderful weather on the way.

How does it feel to be the Bionic Man, Don? 😄

Glad you didn't get caught in the heavy rain, Bruce. Seems like there's plenty of time left to break that record...

Welcome to the GM thread, W7Bob! 👍

Billy, I was an hour over due yesterday to grease the FEL, but the sun was going down and the temps were dropping quickly, so that'll be job 1 for today. But I figure with seven days of rain on the way, that'll pass for washing the tractor.:ROFLMAO:

Got the truck unloaded yesterday, including all the cardboard I took to the so called recycle center that doesn't recycle cardboard. Just as well, though, because if they had taken it, I'd have been without boxes for the next job, which was to pack wood up to take to the cabin I'll be staying in to celebrate New Years. I had enough boxes to finish up most of the campfire wood, except the big pieces that I don't know would even fit in a stove.

After that I went after that new downed tree, and after cutting it into three pieces, got it dragged over to the wood pile. I put an 18" bar on that little Makita electric saw, and I'm really surprised how well it works. I have to be more careful not to bog it down than I'd be with a gas saw, but I was able to fully bury the bar and make the cut next to the stump without any real problems. And no worries or hassles getting the saw to start.

This time I left myself plenty of room when I stopped dragging the wood, and used the FEL and 4in1 bucket to push the tree portions the rest of the way onto the pile. I did make a mess of the yard where the tree came down, though, so used the box blade to smooth over the ruts. At about that time I noticed a fairly large tree with twin trunks had come down across the rough path I use to get to my compost pile, so I guess that's part of what I'll be doing today. Maybe I'll start bucking wood, as I'm running out of room to stack it in the wood yard. That's a good problem to have.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Good Morning.
It’s 38 and raining. Temperature isn’t supposed to change more than a few degrees throughout the day. Rain is supposed to continue on and off through tomorrow.

Yesterday went by pretty quickly, took the RAV4 for inspection after checking to see all the readiness monitors were set after replacing the plugs and a coil pack, then clearing the codes last week. My somewhat eccentric mechanic had just made a dueling tree, plasma cutting the targets out of a piece of steel that someone gave him that was supposed be AR500. So we ended up behind his shop testing it with a Ruger RedHawk. Looking at the dents in the targets, it was pretty clear that they were mild steel, not the HardOx that he thought it was.

I was pleasantly surprised that I had an email from the FAA accepting what I wanted to do. Even though what I wanted to due was logical and made good sense, they are not usually very flexible, hence their motto “We’re not happy until you’re not happy”. But I’m happy now that common sense prevailed.

So I spent some more time on the computer and got at least that portion of the document completed.

Put some meatballs and sauce in the crock pot, and had a drummer, guitarist and keyboard player come in the evening. All good friends and great players. Had a great time, played Christmas Songs and everything from “Take the A Train” to “Hey Good Looking” to “Willin”. Reminded me how lucky I am to have friends that are such great musicians. A wonderful time was had by all.

Good morning! 35 now. Supposed to get to 53 today, then cool off to mid 30‘s during the day tomorrow. It is raining now and looks to rain most of the day.

I went for a bottle of Sagamore Rye for Christmas Roy. Little pricey for my cheap bones….but it is quite tasty.

Since it is raining…think I will spend quality time in the garage. The spring and shim kit is here to redo a revolver. The trigger needs some serious TLC. Hope this does it. Got some other prep work to be able to work on the trailer while I off over Christmas.

@mostly_gas - I am not surprised how some of the staff acted. They are humans. Profession doesn’t change human behavio.

And to continue…..

I had a rough night with not having control of my GI tract. It was very active 😲. B was the nurse’s aide on night shift and was quite snarky about the situation. I was embarrassed, frustrated, and hated it myself. He comments really got under my skin. But I was doing my best to control my temper.

Around 4:00 AM it happened again. She had just left my room after a vitals check. She returned screaming about I was doing this deliberately, that I had a sick sense of humor by creating this work, etc. I started to say something, then decided it was gonna be one of those times that what ever I said was gonna make a bad situation worse. So left her rant and rave, call me immature, a pig, etc. and stayed silent.

Shortly afterwards, the night shift charge nurse came in to give me some meds. I didn’t stay silent and unloaded on her about the treatment from B. Told her: “If that b*tch steps foot in my room again, I am picking up the phone and calling security as I feel she is a threat to my safety”. Said a lot more than that, the air was likely a bit blue in my room. The charge nurse was shocked. Said she would make sure the shift was finished with a different aide. It was.

Blood draw then day shift nurses. JoAnn was my weekend day shift aide again. Day shift charge nurse was new to me and asked me about the night before. I went through it more calmly. Told her that B had been a problem every time I had her as an aide.

Then Dr. M showed up early, had to go through it again. He got the nursing supervisor in the room. She asked if I wanted to fill out a complaint. I did. And was promised she would not be my aide again.

Dr. M was pleased with my medical progress. He started me on a med that was to slow down my large intestine and bowel to get them in synch with the rest of my GI tract. I would be allowed 1 every 6 hours with 4 maximum, as they didn’t want to slow things too much. They started me on the pill. After 2 things slowed down. It would take all 4 for control to return…

I had smelled bacon that morning that other patients were getting for breakfast. I was allowed warm broth at all 3 meals. The lipid fats were removed fairly early in the day. The other feed bag was removed later in the day. I was running out of tubes connected to me, was down to an IV by this day.

Everyone stay safe out there!
