Good Morning!!!! 71F @ 5:30 AM. Mainly sunny. High 101F. Winds WSW at 5 to 10 mph.
Yesterday's Fire Weather Warning is today's Red Flag Warning, expiring Saturday night. Same story: Low, single digit humidity, 100F temps, and windy. Gonna be some "active" days on the fire lines. At least the winds will remain out of the south and west, which brings moderately cleaner air with it.
Last week I read somewhere that the WHO is calling on first world countries to delay third shots for 8 months so that vaccine supplies to underdeveloped countries would remain available. What I haven't read yet is much about how long immunity lasts for those that have had two doses, or those that have had CV19. Time to hit the
MedCram videos and bone up.
Speaking of MedCram, anybody heard from Chris (pennwalk) lately?
Welcome Torvy; sounds like good advice to me...
Drew, I think those numbers for dimensional lumber refer to the rough sawn size. When they plane it smooth, they lose the quarter inch.
Happy to read the new truck is workin' out, Buppies. Braking and acceleration up to snuff, too? That's a lot of weight to be doin' anything quick.
Dropped by a fastener store yesterday while I was in town. For once, there was only one guy in front of me, when usually there are several. They still do things the old fashioned way, asking you what you want, then disappearing back into the cavernous warehouse to hunt down what you need. Then write it up by hand on a paper two part form, update a paper inventory sheet, and ring it up on an old fashioned cash register. Takes longer, but makes time for some pleasant conversation, something that's harder to come by in this computerized wonder age. Guy in front of me had an old Stanley saw tooth setter with what looked like a 10x28 thread he needed a nut for. The store didn't have one, so I suggested he check with Brownell's, who carry lots of odd ball stuff like that.
Exchanged the argon/CO2 bottle while I was in town yesterday, too. Went to the counter of the place to make the arrangements, and they sent a big strapping young man out with me to get the old bottle. He grabbed the thing out of the back and swung it up on his shoulder like there was nothing to it. Dropped it into a rack of empties, got a full one, and rolled it on its edge, giving it a little kick with every other step as he went. Then lifted it for me into the back of the pickup. The last exchange was at a different supplier where the clerk refused to even help me lift the bottle in. I told him I wouldn't be back, and with great service at this new place, I won't be.
TGIF gang!
