Good morning!!!!

45 to 53 today, we got just under an inch of rain but the second line is moving in now, looks light though. I’m not ready for the cold the next couple of days but it is what it is. I’ve been busy for a couple of weeks, so other than picking up our new sofa later this might be one of those energy conservation days y’all talk about.

God bless all you guys with dental issues, skin problems and anything else going on.

Rich, best wishes for an easier morning.
Instead of pulling my molar yesterday they decided on root canal and crown.
One alternative very hard on jaw, other very hard on wallet.
Actually he ground on me for what seemed like an hour, so it was some of both.

Good Morning!!!! 59F @ 3:45AM. Plentiful sunshine. High 84F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.
Almost a carbon copy (is there such a thing anymore?) of yesterday, with perhaps a little more wind. I'll take it.

Yesterday went pretty much as planned. Lit a small burn pile, which took right off with no hesitation at all, then got busy limbing and bucking the downed trees.

Stopped every fifteen minutes or so to feed more slash to the fire, and work on my grapple technique. I found if I float the FEL and curl the grapple while closing the jaws, it'll gather in a nice mouthful almost every time.👍 Is that how you do it, Rick?

IMG_7414.JPG

I wish the grapple made as good a sawbuck, but the hydraulics relax once I shut the tractor off and the logs tend to slip in the jaws. And I want to shut the tractor off to delay a regen cycle as long as possible. I'm jealous of your big, straight rounds, Bill, except when it comes time to pick them up!😄

I found very little of the standing dead wood that was rotten, unlike the bucked wood that had sat under tarps for a year. Ended up filling the side-by-side three times before me and the chainsaws ran out of gas and batteries.

IMG_7421.JPG

A couple days work gets maybe a couple pallets of wood, not as much as I'd hoped but it's really good exercise! The pile of scraps that didn't make the grade in back is even larger, so I'm well stocked for campfire wood.

Lots of sawdust and pollen in the air has had my allergies going like crazy the past few days. A hot shower felt great, then adjourned to the back porch with a cool beverage to listen to some music and let the ol' back muscles relax. Wasn't long before Stubby and Tasty heard the noise and came out of their hidy holes, and as soon as Stubby saw my bare foot tapping he had to run over for a look.

I'll see your gecko, Don, and raise you a tickle... 😄

Town run today, maybe some paperwork to start. Right now I think I'll try to grab a little more shut eye...

Watch out for April Fools, and hang in there, gang, Friday's comin'!

Thomas, a very appropriate April Fool's trick for you.

We got 1.63" of rain, a lot more than the .50 forecasted. It'll be some time before I want to cross the creek bottom with my tractor to get back to my firewood, RNG, so I'll enjoy looking at yours in the meantime. I did have a lot of straight rounds from the trunk, but plenty of crooked ones from the many branches, most of which I brought up to the pallets already.

It's nice to be in control of your fire, rather than mother nature and the power company, right RNG? I'll have to ask my wife if she's named our lizards and skinks, which don't crawl up our leg, but do hang out with us on the porch eating the wren's mealworms.

Good Morning
It’s 38 going to 48 today.
Rain ending and clearing skies. The Davis and Tempest were in perfect agreement on the rain total at .29” for yesterday’s rain.

Yesterday’s trip went well, had to cross a significant line of weather going south and again northbound. Fortunately it was all below us, and we had a decent ride. Departure from Washington county was not as smooth. We were ready to go and I was waiting for the plane that we were picking up to fire up and depart first. I knew it wasn’t a good sign when the door opened and the steps came down. One of the batteries would not come on line, so we left it and went home. Hopefully go back and get it today if it gets sorted out. They did check all the easy and obvious stuff yesterday.
Otherwise, I’ll get to finishing speakers.

Happy Birthday to me! (No fooling.)

My (non-twin) sister’s birthday, too. And my TA’s birthday - her birthday present is her first shot of the Pfizer vaccine today - LOL.

My birthday present is the Wife driving up from the city with a nice Turkey for Easter. Plus her and the kid prolly have a few surprise presents in store for me.

Meanwhile, SNOW last nite! I thought it was supposed to be over. Not enough to plow or anything, but maybe I should leave the blower on the tractor a bit longer?
