Sophie’s Birthday dinner made me hungry for crab cakes and then I got a recipe in e- mail for Hearts of Palm Creole Crab Cakes. I could tell by the ingredients it would be good, and it is!
Good Morning
It’s 61 here according to my Tempest weather station. The Davis station shows 61.2, so I will ever actually know what the temperature is. The forecast high is 75 and windy.
Yesterday, I worked in the shop all day, never left the property. Looks like I’ll be in there for a while, 2 more speaker orders came in tomorrow. I suspect that the flurry of activity is due to things starting to open up, with live music returning. Maybe it’s what musicians are doing with their stimulus checks.
Other than shop time, I did get the smoker fired up, it should be done before lunchtime. It’s got a little more than 20lbs of pork shoulders in it for pulled pork. It’s great having a smoker with an automated draft fan. Once the dampers are set about right, I can fire it up and go to bed. It keeps the temp better than my electric stove, and can burn for at least 16 hours on one load of lump charcoal. These shoulders will be done later this morning.

Guess what’s on the lunch menu?
Time for an English muffin and then off to the shop to make some sawdust.
Speaking of Indians, the east Indian kind, have you folks heard about the glitter bomber? He's the guy that puts a gizmo that will broadcast glitter inside a package that gets left on a porch to tempt thieves.
TGIF gang!
I don't like being dependent on internet based services, but I do export my Davis weather data to Weather Underground. I'm guessing you could send your Tempest data there, too. I think they do a pretty good job of storing it for later recall, and with the proper searches, you can get daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, and custom data summaries pretty easily. I was gonna check to see what the Davis records for light intensity, but right now, my weather station isn't showing up on the WU website. Which perfectly illustrates what I don't like about depending on internet based services...That was one of reasons I kept the Tempest, to determine. Thinking the Tempest reports w/m2, so if I know my m2 I can figure theoretical watts? Then do I just have another piece of nice to know? On my list.
ETA: a quicklook and I think the Tempest is current value only rather than an accumulated value. What I would find interesting is Daily, Weekly, Monthly. Of course with just Daily I could expand.
Not sure what benefit I could get just current W/m2.
1091 W/m2 here now.The latest data from WU says ol' Sol is putting out 842 W/m2, yielding an 8.5% conversion rate. Not too impressive, huh?
Drew, here is the recipe:

On the YouTube in the link they are harvesting the hearts of palm in Hawaii. I could not find any from Hawaii so I had to settle to get my hearts from Ecuador. Interesting tube, I was wondering if David knows where the big Hawaii Palm Tree farm is located?
Is it at the Puna Gardens? Puna Gardens is located on the Big Island of Hawaii in beautiful “downtown” Kurtistown, a small town that sits on the slopes of Mauna Loa at an elevation of 900ftNot a farm per se, but I know my hair cutter’s brother grows locally.
