Actually, I did replace them. Nice tool, but as I said, I hate working on oil burners and avoid them like the plague. My goal was to get them heat, and have them get the furnace properly serviced by someone else.

Not my favorite item to work on for sure.
The fuel oil smell is a pain and I have a difficult time trying to find disposable gloves that fit,
but many of my clothes have oil stains on them, so what the heck.
But I've always done all mine and most of the ones over on the farm.
Occasionally I get a call from a friend of a friend or neighbor that's out of heat in the middle of a cold spell.
And after my first time of having to buy a part from a service tech when my boiler went down the first time
I have slowly been building up an inventory of Beckett burner parts. I have the components to completely rebuild one now.
After having to replace the motor on one for the farm this fall and thinking that mine is over 25 years old and runs year round for hot water I got a second one for a spare.
Now I'm kind of watching Craigs list for a complete spare that looks good.

Good morning to all! Low of 24, going up to 50. Breezy, but not bad at 15-20 mph.

Drew, look into mini-split systems. Easy to install, very energy efficient, especially when the temps aren't extreme. Plus, they can be 'zoned' room by room.

Ron, glad the cranes are back.... I always enjoyed your pics of them. Glad Sassy had a good birthday!

RS, sounds like you had a good day getting the tanks cleaned. Hope the fish cooperate and you have a successful season.

I had another bad night trying to sleep. Eventually things will return to normal... I hope!

Project planning was successful, more expensive than I would like, but that was expected. I did find a couple small independent suppliers that were 25% cheaper than the big box stores, so will be giving them deposits in the next couple days. Ordering the materials will take 4-8 weeks for delivery.

I figured that getting the materials now rather than taking the gamble that prices will come down, is a safer bet. The materials can be stockpiled until I'm able to do the work in a few months.

she isn't willing to sell, but she is willing to make changes and provide a long term lease.

3 degrees right now...wind has died down, but it was really gusting a while ago...looks like about an inch of snow overnight. High at 22 today

Still have a password problem. TBN is not accepting the password I've used since I joined 20 years back...so, trying to use the "forgotten password" link, but the confirmation e-mails never arrive. TBN admin has been trying to help, but so far, no joy

One thing that might not be obvious to everyone is that airdrop only will work with a Mac computer, not with windows.

Or any modern iOS device. I air drop from and to both the iPads and iPhones, and it will easily do it in the house, down a long hall.

One of my neighbors attempted to mow during a lull yesterday. Rain drove him back in and said ground was really soggy. He was mowing a mostly flat area with his Z turn.

29F and bright sunshine @ 11:45, headed up to a high of 40F. Calling for a high of 52F tomorrow, followed by some cooler weather and then another warmup. Ten Day is showing multiple days with highs of 60F+ ... and no precipitation until Wednesday the 10th ...

Hopper, two sunflower tube, squirrel, and two suet cake feeders refilled yesterday. Five scoops of cracked corn scattered for the ground feeders. Squirrels were just arriving this morning as I filled my first cup of coffee.

The Woman made a Cajun recipe yesterday that we made a few weeks ago. Originally it called for 3 lbs of center-cut pork chops ... but she decided to make it with chicken thighs this time around (of course ... ) Also called for mushrooms so I got sent out for those. But I came back with the mushrooms ... and a jar of orange marmalade and a small bottle of Cointreau ($$$) ... that should teach her ...

Stopped by the shop on the way back in and dropped off some wrenches and fasteners that I had in my coat pocket (snowblower) and grabbed some paint and poly and brought those down to the house.

Driving the car reminded me that I need to call and make that appointment to get it checked out.

Fed one container of white worms that was ready for more chow, should be several more ready today.

Got the multis moved over to their new tank, will need to check the old tank today to make sure I got them all. Typically they are pretty easy to move - they just dart inside their shells any time something is stuck into the tank and then I pick up the shell with a set of tongs and move it to the new tank. Not all of them did this time and I had to net a couple.

Part of last Amazon order due in today. Ordered on Saturday, shipped out of Houston yesterday, was in Akron this morning @ 08:32 ...

Located TurboCat head for the vacuum last night, so doing the carpet in the fish room will be on the agenda for today, along with the emptying the debris container for vac.

Painting tank backs which did not get done yesterday, so possibly on agenda as well.

I’m waiting on TSC to find the certificate of origin, or get a copy from Coleman, it’s been at the back of their fenced area for a couple of years I guess, since they stopped stocking them. I wouldn’t have known it was there if I hadn’t been getting propane tanks filled and saw the front of it sticking out from some pallets. Battery was dead, covered in dust, basically a mess.

good morning all. A day late, Happy March!

very windy night, power went off about 10am last night but thankfully came back a few minutes later.

28 going up into high thirties today, 53 tomorrow!

not that I ever had an inkling to eat a toad but sure won't now...

Landlady coming over this morning for coffee and talk. Made her some apple blueberry muffins to take home.
Going to talk about a long lease that will allow me to make investments here that are sensible, like installing a hot tub.
Which means new electrical service. And installing central air. Want to discuss what I'm willing to pay for and what I might
split with her.

Told the realtor no thank you to homes I was looking at. Incredibly good value for the area, half the cost of other houses, but zero
privacy. Realized after 45 years of owning my own homes, all with land, that I could not be comfortable without woods and land, and where I am
now from a location standpoint is wonderful. It's just the house is worn out and if I'm going to stay here, need a plan of action on how to
bring it back into shape.

OK, brain more awake now. When I studied RE law there was a thing called Life Estate. You could buy from her but upon your demise it reverts back to her estate (or wherever stated).
That would protect you and investment and I’m assuming her wishes to leave it to someone.
