Paul, have fun with bass. Because of curves in your driveway and slope pretty hard for water to not
run across it, particularly on that one curve.

Agreed. Given the right sequence of freeze-thaw that curve can turn into a glacier.

50 and sunny breeze going to 54. Still snow/ice in shadiest areas even after yesterday's 69F.

Lots of little "weed" flowers blooming along with the crocus...daffodils are showing color, too. We gave a haircut to our out of control grapevines yesterday, but more to do today. Still cleaning up branches from the ice storm, and have 3 big trees along one of my trails to clear once it is dry enough. Our skunks have dug enough ground that if I could control them I wouldn't need to till the garden. Raccoons were out at the bird feeders again this morning before light. 3 chipmunks are out of their holes eating peanuts. Marsh hawks glide low over the fields everyday. Gave Coco a new frisbee for her birthday yesterday, but she's not up to running for it...still can catch it like a shortstop if thrown anywhere near her. Feels nice to be part of this.

Good morning! 53˚F cloudy temp variance today only 2˚F, north wind.

The harvested beet crop only produced a gallon of beets about the size of ping pong balls. I sliced them and put them on three trays in the dehydrator. They were reduced to 2 cups and now will grind them to a powder to use in soups, @ 2 Tbs per pot of soup that will last for 12 pots of soup

My pepperoni spice will be here Saturday so Sunday will be pizza day. I debating weather to sprinkle it on top or bake it in the pizza crust.

Garden/compost day. I'll finish pulling the wilted Kale and try to get a bucket of undamaged kale.
My 60 gallon compost bin is near full and I will take out the compost at the bottom, from the lower door, and dry it out in the wheel barrow. After I mix the black gold into the garden soil I'll get it PH tested to see If I need to add sulphur and peat moss - it always needs acid here because the well water is alkaline. While the garden soil is being amended I'll cut and harden the seed potatoes and hopefully will be able to plant them at the end of next week.

BEF - light from Amazon Ostwin- have the same lights in the apartment, working well so far. but when they die, need to replace whole unit
Co workers toilet in Tokyo had remote for heat and music as well as the bidet with about 20 types of water configs. My place just had bidet and heat , both auto up/down seat buttons

Stay safe and be well, it's been a rough week

30°F and cloudy this morning, going up to 48° today. Still seeing a little snow in some of the ditches on east-west roads, but for the most part it's all gone now.

Got 10 eggs from the feather butts yesterday, where we had been getting 2-3 a day. I guess they're liking the warmer weather as well.

I can handle the warmer weather, Mostly_. As I've noted from others who live in such climes, just stay inside on the really hot days, just like we do up here on the really cold days. We get some stretches of 100+ days here as well, and just regulate our outdoor activities to morning work. Like anything else, I'm sure it will take some adjustment.

I have been to Texas many times, Eric, and I've always enjoyed my time there. The oldest stepson, who lives there now, was stationed at Ft. Hood during his time in the Army, and we visited him several times. I'd also been there a few times for work-related stuff previous to that. It's a huge state. One can drive for 10 hours and still be in Texas. I believe only Alaska is bigger.

L4N, "is" is the third-person singular simple present indicative form of "be", so it's a verb. It turns out, after many years of my own chiding people over ending sentences with a preposition, that there is actually no hard and fast grammatical rule against it. It's merely frowned upon. (see what I did there)

Paul, I found the biggest torture to my hands when I first started playing string bass was my left hand. Totally different technique and muscle usage than on a bass guitar ... or even a cello, for that matter.

49-51 today, already missing yesterday’s 61. The flag is standing out in the NW breeze.
I got my usual morning stuff done but no coffee yet. My new propane regulator is due in today, I’ll probably install and test that.
I got the antique stool done and collected my strawberry pie It’s a great little stool, very symmetrical for hand made.
It was obviously hand made, you could see the ads and draw knife marks on the inside bottom edges.

I go for my second shot Saturday, I hope it’s as trouble free as the first.

I got the big enclosed trailer cleaned out yesterday and everything either stored or tossed. I just pulled the tractor inside and loaded the stuff in the bucket, better than toting it. I hooked it with the 3pt hitch and pulled around to air the tires so it would be ready. The new owner sent a service guy out to start the generator and test the overhead lights and A/C. I told him good luck, I’d never used either lights or air. They all worked though it could use some refrigerant. I just used it to haul classic cars and tractors, not for a workshop. Hopefully it’s leaving this weekend.
My leg and hip are sore from all the forward and reverse peddling filling those low spots.

Gotta get it in gear and get moving.
Have great and blessed day, stay safe.

Similar to what we have here, Don ... 5-ish acres. We want to be not too far from a population center, because I'm still going to have to work for a few more years, and don't want to drive 100 miles to get to a job. We've been mostly looking along the I-35 corridor between DFW and Austin. Found a few potential places yesterday, closer to Austin. Wife found a really nice place near Waco (even has a guest house on the property), which would be perfect, but probably more than we want to spend.
