Good morning, the temperature is 28°F and going to 37. Wind SSW 11 mph. Periods of snow or rain.

I fired up the tractor at 7 A.M. I got all 4 driveways plowed to make room for more fluffy white 'stuff'.

When I got stuck the other day, the pile on the right was 'right there', there was no way the tractor would roll. I knew by the lay of the land (this is my property) that to go backwards I would lose the pile safety cushion and the right side would get deeper. Better to get branded a chicken than a dead duck. Again the curl function on the loader isn't strong enough to pull me up and out of the hole I was in. Besides, the towing company needs to eat too.

Burks Falls trip got postponed to today. Going there in about 1/2 hour.

I've had two of those HF hoists, bought them both when they were on sale for 99 bucks...
problem was the long legs that had to be extended, they usually got in the way of something.

well, didn't turn out to be so hard. Went to the local gas station who filled it for me and wasn't a problem sliding it
out of car. All hooked up. Am waiting for a warm sunny day to fix the gen cover, all the metal poles have pulled out of the
plastic connectors, pretty cheesy construction, but once glued, should be fixed. Then I cover that cover with a blue tarp and a bag of birdseed.

40F and cloudy (but brightening up) @ 09:45 ... ... headed to a high of 41F for the day. Ten Day is calling for highs in the 50's by the weekend ... :thumbsup:

Nothing done outside yesterday (Marvelous Monday Movie Madness Marathon ... ) Some birds including a red-bellied woodpecker scrounging around out back just a little ago, so feeders will need refilled today (slim pickings)

Also will get back to snow/ice clean up on the driveway.

But probably not before we make yet another attempt at scheduling a vaccine appointment for The Woman ...

Did receive an email from the county health department yesterday:

ATTENTION: Please note that SCPH is changing their vaccination scheduling process. Please read the following information carefully.

Summit County Public Health has experienced a very high demand of phone calls and web contacts alerting us to the challenges in securing a vaccine appointment. Due to the extensive demand, our phone and internet systems have struggled to keep up during our weekly scheduling sessions. In an effort to reduce frustrations, SCPH is going to switch over to a lottery system that pulls a computer-generated random sample from our vaccine registry who will receive instructions on how to schedule an appointment. Please note that individuals do not need to re-register in this system to be considered for the lottery.

SCPH will begin the lottery process Monday March 1st.

But in the meantime, they have failed to provide a link for this week to schedule an appointment ... which will no doubt result in further (needless) calls into what appears to be an already overloaded office to clear up exactly what is going on presently ... :confused2:

39°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 61°. Voice on the radio suggested 65°. I wouldn't hate that either.

Was interesting to go out and check on the Chickens last night with just a light sweat jacket, when this time last week it was full Carhartt gear.

Picked up Chinese takeout last night. Been awhile. It was delicious.

Spent some time on the rowing machine last night. Haven't been doing enough of that. Need to get into a groove alternating between that and the bike.

Wife's been working on taxes this week. She got her business stuff done yesterday, and is starting on the personal/farm stuff today. Always nice to be married to an accountant, especially this time of year.

Mostly_, when I first got the bass, I adjusted the bridge down as low as it would go. It plays OK there, but I'd like it a little lower. I could trim it down, but I'm not fond of the adjustment mechanism and the effect it has on the tone. It also adds more than a bit of instability to the bridge. I need to get a solid one and trim it to the height I want. I play it almost entirely with a bow, so I really have no need for the adjustability. I don't play it that much, though, so it's not been a priority.

Until so called green fuels are self sustaining, as in likely never, Kyle is 100% correct. Have you checked the carbon footprint of windmills, solar panels and electric cars? They can't mine, transport and build themselves, they can't recharge themselves, etc...

How can you move to energy that isn't self sustaining, perpetual motion machine?

Perhaps you might want to clarify what exactly it is you are meaning (or looking at) when you use those words ?

In the meantime, I'll leave you with this scenario:

Leaving aside generation of methane via decomposition of biological resources, fossil NG is, for all practical purposes, a finite resource.

Why not then take advantage of wind energy (when present and available) to reduce consumption (aka "conservation") of that finite resource ?

Drew have you thought about one of those "Dog" ramps for loading in and out of car?

One of these would be ideal to lift something heavy, out of a car trunk, as long as the trunk lid doesn't get in the way.

I have lifting eyes in the ceiling of the garage. Very handy. The one I use the most has a chain hoist hooked on it. There is a strongback in the crawl space above the garage to spread the load. I wouldn't want to lift tons but 5-6-7 hundred pounds have been no problem.

Nice day Temp now 70˚F heading to 77˚F.
The last restriction, water use, has been lifted at noon today. As soon as I get my delayed second shot Friday there will be no lingering effects of the deep freeze here, except the gas and electric bill.

Hopper feeder, two sunflower tube, nugget feeder, and one suet cake feeder refilled. Birdbath cleaned out and refilled.

Nugget feeder had fallen down onto the back deck, then had gotten pushed through a hole in the decking and had fallen to the patio outside the rear basement doors. Bottom didn't come off though ... :thumbsup: There was a squirrel feasting on it when I went down ... he promptly scurried off. When I went to rehang it the metal hook was gone - either rusted out or came loose. Fortunately there was another eyelet available so I jiggered things around and got it hung.

Kicked off all the ice on the steps on my way back down.

Saw a couple of red-winged blackbirds light on the feeders when I came back up. Also a sharp shinned hawk in the hawthorn tree out back, looking for some easy pickings no doubt ... :laughing:

Went to the county health department website where they mentioned appointment scheduling for this week was cancelled due to converting over to a lottery. Would have been nice if they had included that info in the email ...

Sun has disappeared and it was pretty windy when I went to refill the feeders, but I'll probably go ahead and get bundled up and head back out and work on the driveway for a bit.
