Good Morning!!!! 48F @ 4:30AM. Rain showers this morning with overcast skies during the afternoon hours. High 57F. Winds SSE at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 50%.
More rain due in tonight, then clearing and warming through most of next week. Maybe another shower next Friday.

Hope the knee recuperates quickly, Ted, and you find a balance with the meds and pain.

Sorry to hear the bad news, Kyle. Almost unavoidable, though, with as contagious as CoVid is. At least you've got the basics of civilization covered.

Got a call from a friend yesterday who helped with the original landscape plan for this place. Got some advise on valuing the lost trees, and pricing replacements. Hope to get the PG&E claim wrapped up this weekend.

Box of the new zip discs arrived yesterday; gosh, that was fast: One day delivery!

Uneventful trip to town yesterday, other than finding a steal of a deal on a 12 year old Bowmore scotch at Costco. Honey and caramel flavors, with just a hint of peated smoke.:licking: Tastes like more... Back felt much better after a couple of doses.

Put together another batch of chili when I got home, and now the whole house smells wonderful. Might have chili for breakfast.

TGIF gang!:drink:

Good Morning
26 and light rain here this morning. High of 34 with snow showers predicted.

Plowed about 6” of snow yesterday, then got freezing drizzle. It’s now a sea of ice. Definitely need to shuffle across any hard surface to reduce the possibility of a hard landing.

Got the finish applied to the speaker cabinet yesterday, cleaned up a little bit and refueled the tractor. Not sure what I was thinking when I placed the diesel tank, there is no good access to it when there is this much snow on the ground. Ended up filling 5 gallon cans and carrying them to the shop. Actually easier to trudge through the snow than risk the ice. Also a softer landing if you fall

Today will be another day in the shop.

Didn’t even try to schedule a vaccination today, didn’t want to go out. The irony is that I might have gotten one because no one else wanted to go out either.

Good morning! 15˚F, yep back in the teens. However we have clear skies and a predicted high of 35˚F. Hopefully a little thawing this afternoon. Water is fine here but that seems to be the major problem facing Texas along with grocery trucks not being able to make deliveries. The news is showing long lines at every food store which includes fast food stores like gasoline stations. Still no mail or any vehicles making deliveries.

My neighbor is upset, since covid she has been having her groceries delivered. All deliveries of groceries are suspended. She is the very cautious type and puts on a mask and carries wipes to bring her garbage can in. We won't be going till the lines simmer down but with so many outages one really needs to shop themselves to figure out what they want to substitute. The stores are reportedly worse than the covid hoarding days.

I tried to help my neighbor re-light his hot water heater but he is iced in and I couldn't get up his driveway. His yard is a frozen rock yard and looks like a bone crusher. This is his first gas water heater and he read the instructions on how to light it but they scared him with all the warnings. He does not want to blow-up and since he is the only one on the street that is having problems with his hot water heater he things something is broke. He will just call the gas company to check it and relight it. He may be another week without hot water, but his stove is working.

Now the good news. First, The garbage trucks will start to roll for the first time this week at noon and our regular day is Friday so they will start with us. Hopefully enough vehicles will start driving to break up the ice on our street. With no snow plows and no sand/salt trucks you can imagine the icy mess.
Second, I received The turbotax refund.
Third, they have not canceled again the second shot and it's still on schedule to be given tomorrow, (3 miles away) now there will be some unavoidable lines.

They are saying now that the second shot may not be necessary and might stop it to get more people vaccinated.

"Together with previous findings that a single Moderna vaccine dose provides 92.1% efficacy against SARS-CoV-2 infection, investigators propose it is time to defer the second dose to extend protection to more people through single-dose mRNA vaccinations.". (Pfizer 92.6% efficacy)

It's funny how they say whatever fits their present dilemma. How do they issue the first shot to patients and not have the second one waiting when it's a 2 shot vaccine?

30 and freezing drizzle, going up to 40, I hope.

Kyle, sorry for what your family is going through. Prayers said.

Mostly, hope you can get that fridge going again. I don't know enough to help you.

Hiking around yesterday was easy with an inch of granular sleet on top of everything else. This morning, was a surprise. I heard the rain coming down, and it filled in all the crevices in the sleet and froze slick...still looks white like sleet and snow, but is solid smooth ice. I hate to think how many folks may slip down, maybe broken hips, etc. Haven't seen the first vehicle go down our road. We are fortunate that our power has not even flickered this time.

Plan to roast more coffee, work on another tax return, and go hiking once it gets warm enough to be safe. Probably watch a movie with Mrs. wngsprd.
