29 going to 34 and freezing rain/drizzle, maybe some snow tonight. Got 5" yesterday.

Check, real sorry about your MIL. Sounds like she was a tough lady.

Rick, hope you can get that glass replaced without too much hassle. Bad break.

Kyle, the Steinerman! Thanks for mentioning the Texas Rising...we enjoy Texas history, too.

Mostly, glad you came to your senses and chose nap over bike ride. :)

We took a nice hike during the snow yesterday...a postcard winter wonderland...will go back out this morning to track animals...saw 3 deer at 5am near the house feeding at a plot I planted for them with winter oats, rye, wheat and turnips. Also need to refill the wood rack on the porch. Today's freezing rain and strong winds aren't good news for the power co-op.

Dennis, when there is that much disparity between run time is that because of pellet stove?
.

The pellet stove does contribute to keeping the downstairs warmer, but even in summer, the upstairs unit does the most work.

Happily snowblower started right up.
Took me all of 20 minutes to do this little lane at slowest speed,
sleet started to come down about half way through.
So I'm a little damp but at least not cold
I think this is supposed to change to more snow but who knows.
Bet the roads are mighty slippery but I can hear from the hissing sound of passing cars everything is melted out
there. Township and road maintenance building about 1000 feet away, all good.

Morning all:
A nice balmy 9F this morning going up to 20F before the snow starts supposedly around 5 PM.
Calling for 4-8 inches, we'll see what happens.
Put the blades on the tractor today, check the tarp on the sand pile, then the fun part.
Got an 80+ mile trip scheduled for tomorrow for an audiology test for the VA thought about canceling,
but it's taken a year to get this scheduled so I guess I'll head up to Middlebury VT tomorrow morning.
May throw 4-5 bags of coal in the back of the truck for a bit more traction, especially for when I get home.
Which will be after most of the heavy part of the storm is past, could make the driveway interesting.

Everyone stay safe and good luck with your snow removal efforts.

Good morning! 24 now. Allegedly to to make it to 32 later. Snow forecast off and on all day.

Condolences check.

Got maybe 4 inches of snow yesterday, but it was extremely wet. When we got home from the grocery run, decided to get the snow off the driveway and cut a park to the barn and firewood storage. Barn and firewood paths went well, but first pass down the drive way, about 1/2 down, the snow blower stopped driving  . Pushed it back up the drive to the garage, checked the drive belt, it was ok. Pulled the belly pan and a broken bolt fell out. Little poking around and found the bolt went in the sprocket that drives the axle. The broken bolt was a grade 8 bolt, of course I had no grade 8 bolt of the correct length. Used a grade 5 and was able to finish the drive.

The county road department snow plows left a mess at the end of the drive. That took a while to clear up. It was windy, and even as wet as the snow was wet, a surprising amount got on the cab windows. The hillbilly defroster kept the snow melted off the windows. I was tired when I got done.

We had supper a little early. Just got done eating and there was a knock on the door. A young lady was at the door and slightly panicked. She had hit a deer just up the road, deer was in the ditch and couldn稚 get up. She was ok and her SUV wasn稚 damaged. Took a handgun and went up the road. Deer was alive, but couldn稚 get up. It seemed to have no control of it痴 legs...and no feeling in it痴 legs. So, did, I hope the right thing, and ended it. It was a small deer, so drug it out of the ditch and across the road to roll it down over the bank. Let Mother Nature reclaim it.

Probably better do the work thing. They are making major changes to warranty processing, so I have major changes to make to the reporting files and structure. Fun fun!

Everyone stay safe out there!
