Good Morning! Hot and dry, the garden needs water every day or it starts dying. 78˚ getting to 100˚.
Yes, I have seen the new study out about red wine being detrimental to heart disease.
Red wine compound resveratrol may negate health benefits of exercise - CBS News
"We were surprised to find that resveratrol supplementation in aged men blunts the positive effects of exercise training on cardiovascular health...in part because our results contradict findings in animal studies," lead researcher Ylva Hellsten, a professor with the University of Copenhagen in Denmark"
Several things to consider:
1. Red wine was not used in the experiment, a 250mg resveratrol supplement (equivalent to 700 bottles of red wine) was used. a liter of red wine has between 1 and 14 mg of resveratrol. The Study was done only on men over 65.
2. The American Heat Assoc. has always maintained that they are no studies that show red wine improves cardiac health. "No direct comparison trials have been done to determine the specific effect of wine or other alcohol on the risk of developing heart disease or stroke."
So what does this all mean. Don't take the 250mg supplement resveratrol for cardiac health (unless you are an animal - there have been studies on animals) and don't drink red wine for heart health.
