Currently 32 with snow showers. Had flurries this afternoon, no accumulation, should be clearing soon.

Finally got all the get togethers done, and I’m tired.
I got a bunch of stuff, but my favorite is a Bluetooth rechargeable speaker. Sounds so much better than the pinhole in the iPhone. Second favorite is the flannel pajama pants for knocking around after my shower, way warmer than the jersey shorts. She also got me a fake fur throw for when I’m napping in the recliner.

Now I’m watching a movie and getting ready to try the blanket.

Merry Christmas guys, have a peaceful night.

Good evening all and Merry Christmas! 27F for the start, clear and breezy. Light to moderate wind day, sky remained mostly clear, and high temp was 58F. 14F and cloudy @ 00:30, heading down to an overnight low of 13F. Winds out of the WSW @ 10 to 20 mph with occasional snow showers.

Enjoying a glass of Kahlua and whole milk (not allowed to touch the half and half ... that's reserved for someone's coffee in the morning ... :D)

Filled hopper, squirrel, and deer feeders.

Spent some time catching up with friends and family.

Got entryway walk shoveled off this afternoon, cleaned snow off The Woman's car and the windshield of the van. Started both vehicles and let them warm up to melt the ice. Had to use the heat gun to melt the ice on the driver's door of The Woman's car to get inside of it. Probably going to need to fire up the tractor and clear the snow off around here at the house.

Woman opened window to yell out and inform me that there were two deer around back at feeder so I snuck over and peered around that big rhododendron at them ... one took off into the woods and the other just stood there looking at me.

Was able to get out of the driveway with the van so ran down to the Circle K at the corner and grabbed a couple gallons of milk.

Baked some potatoes and cooked one of the ribeye's - seasoned it with Montreal Steak Seasoning, then encased it in bacon and then put it all under the broiler. Woman skillet-fried some sauerkraut balls she had picked up, heated up some green beans, and baked the Pillsbury crescent rolls we gotten for Thanksgiving that we had forgotten about. Ground up the bacon in the food processor and then put it on the baked potatoes, along with several dollops of butter.

Steak was very good ... Woman thought it might be dried out but it wasn't. She had a little of it but wasn't very hungry (she had eaten a grilled cheese and some bean with bacon soup mid-afternoon ...)

Basement cat was let out of solitary confinement and was allowed to come up for a visit.

Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas ...

This is my Mother's recipe for Sausage Dumplings (... it is likely my Grandmother's actually, because it's what she always made for New Year's Day dinner, along with a piece of pork ... but it's in my Mother's hand, so I'll call it her's)

Take 2 eggs, pinch of salt, 1/2 shell of water and flour to make it right consistency for noodles - stiff. (The Woman advises: "very stiff")

Filling - 2 eggs, 2 slices of bread moistened, 2 onions chopped fine, salt and pepper to taste, 1/2 lb. of bulk sausage (or more - I like more :D)

(Typically what we have done - in at least the last 30 years or so - is use a mixture of 1/2 regular and 1/2 hot sausage - usually Jimmy Dean's)

Spread filling on dough (which has been rolled to an oblong shape, about 1/8" thick) then roll up (dough/filling), moisten edge and seal. Cut in 2" thick slices, place on boiling sauerkraut with enough water to bubble through. Cook slowly about 1 1/2 hours.

Recipe notes "Can also be cooked in beef broth" (which is good as well ... but either way, I gotta have some kraut with them, however they get get cooked)

Good morning all.

:welcome: Bailey

Thanks to everyone for the "White Christmas" snow scenes, after a short hard frost we are back to soppy wet today.

Rich, glad you pulled through and made it back home in time for Christmas.

Mostly, hope that asphalt scab flavoured coffee tastes a lot better than it sounds.

Yesterday was certainly strange. The magic of smartphones allowed us to still enjoy seeing the grandkids expressions as they showed us their presents, after that it was very quiet. It was a day of firsts, the first time ever I had my wife all to myself on Christmas day and the first time I haven't eaten turkey at this time of year.

With no trains running on Christmas day, I snook out for a short while to fell some alders that were on the rail boundary. Fortunately they came down where I intended, although I wouldn't have liked to have risked it at other times. Had to fell them one on top of another to get it done in time, plenty of clearing up to keep me occupied for a couple more days.

good morning all.
Very cold morning, 14 out now not getting above freezing today, high of 31.

Still full from eating SIL's home made lasagna last night, my was it good, had some spicy sausage in extra red sauce with it,
and wonderful flavor. For all the years many of us have suffered through Stouffers lasagna for Christmas, the real thing is a joy.
Lot of work in making a good lasagna with all those layers.

Nothing planned for today, energy conservation for sure
black ice warnings up, need to check my walkway to see if it needs some ice melt on it.
