Good morning!!!!

My drive, neighbor's drive and the cul-de-sac is clear. Township hadn't touched it yet...so, at least we won't have any berms or knock downed mailboxes...
****...a lot of snow!! Still snowing, but it's tapering down.

Neighbor's son will be over to rake the roof and clear the sidewalks (I've got a walk behind snow blower, but he's off work and I can justify some money to help the cause)

Did your JD and blower perform as you hope for?

Played in the driveway with the tractor. Probably got 2” more last night, but the freezing rain after the first 7” packed it down and froze hard, so can walk on top. Had to put the cutting edge of the bucket down, which picked up a lot of stone. Got it off enough the sun will do it’s thing.

Combo lock on barn had 1/4” ice on it, I had to get a piece of rebar and bust the ice to unlock.

Looks like a post card.

30 now, low around 23 tonight. We may have our first teens tomorrow night.
I went to cardiac specialist today, he says my heart function has gone from 30% before the valve replacement almost exactly a year ago, to within normal ranges now. Now if my kidneys will cooperate I’ll be good to go, well except for my sciatica. LOL Always something though when you’re old.

I love my tractor, but I’m glad I’m not pushing snow with it, yet.

Wind broke my upper flag mount, undecided whether to order a pair or just replace the pole.

Had grilled cheese and leftover veggie beef soup for supper, fit for a king.

Pop, that speaker cabinet looks top shelf, my grandfather was a cabinet maker/gunsmith/ carpenter/clock smith and top notch moonshiner.
I know just enough to be dangerous.

Yes it did!
Since I have a bad leg (described in many previous posts), using a hydro transmission wasn't as easy as a reverser, but I could pivot around (while blowing with a 3PH blower) to use my left leg/foot (fully functional). Good news, the cab heat was great!! Not so hot news is the Yanmar engine in the 4052 does not have the torque the 4520's Powertech engine had. We had a good 12-13 inches of powder and the engine did bog down sometimes. However, that may have been my fault too...may have been trying to feed the blower too much, too fast. It would be nice if the cruise control worked in reverse for a more consistent speed...but, I'll adapt.
There are things I like about (my first) hydro transmission...but I still think a reverser is a better tranny.

As I wrote in a previous post, I did my drive, neighbor's drive and the 1/8th mile cul-de-sac road...at least, we got a better clean up then the township does...and no knocked over mailboxes!!!
I really hope we get more snows like this...Vermont has been in a drought for quite a while and having a well...the aquifer really need replenishing
Of course, another reason is I really enjoy this kind of work!

Well it's way past morning now, but.
The original forecast of 1-3 that when to 6-10inchs kept getting bumped up.
We ended up with well over 30 inches I heard on the news 38 inches.
Started out with the Branson 8050 at about 8AM at about 9AM lost the water pump.
Spent the next several hours shoveling around the vehicles and digging out the IH574
that I didn't put the chains on the other day. Finally got that out in a cleared area about dark,
said the heck with it, put the chains on her tomarrow and try and finish up.
If not late tomorrow I'll go over to the farm when they get through feeding and borrow a loader tractor.
dang I do not like snow especially when equipment acts up.

Good evening all. 27F for the start, clear sky. calm wind. Light wind today, mostly clear sky, and high temp of 60F. What a difference a day makes. Yesterday insert ran all day, cloudy for most of it and a cold bike ride. Today Christmas shopping in Sherman then bike ride, needing only arm warmers to stay warm on the bike. No nap again today :(

Did get to mow dog’s area before sky opened up.

Decided to take advantage of the rainy day. Traded out my keg at the brewery, brewmaster tried to be reassuring so I opted for another keg of the same new brew. He’s convinced I likely got the last fill from the batch. Being I was 1st keg sold I’m guessing he likely knew it was the last one filled,
Had to get 20lb propane refill for Cottage. Spent time in HD getting pipe and fittings for Caretaker project.
Some nasty rain driving home, but I don’t have to shovel it and I’m still in shorts and Tee.

You guys be careful out there.

I have not gotten the flu vaccine on a regular basis ... but having had pneumonia really, really bad a number of years ago, I rethought that this year and went ahead and got the flu vaccine. Pneumonia is not something I want to go through again.

Other than having a little pain in arm where I got the shot for less than 24 hours, no adverse reaction.

I will get the vaccine when it is available ... barring any reporting of significant adverse reactions (which I expect there will be very little of)

My wife and I were given a free Pneumonia shot last year. Not a problem for me whatsoever but my wife reacted terribly.
Her whole arm swelled up and you couldn't even touch it she was in so much pain.
The Dr said, "well, you can't have that one again!"
She hasn't had a problem with any other vaccines. It took her several weeks to get over it.
