Good morning!!!!

Well I got another bad news call from my sister in Co. yesterday, she is the one who lost a son to a sudden, unexpected heart attack back in Oct.. She found out that her oldest son, who has M.S and is in a care facility in Alamosa,Co, tested positive for covid yesterday. The San Louis Valley part of Co. has been hit real hard and one of the workers was exposed and brought it to work. They have been checking all the patients daily and he came up positive.
I feel so bad for her and her husband as they are both in their 80's with plenty of health problems. They kept him at home for years and then about a year ago my sister was diagnosed with Parkinsons and on top of all her other health issues it just became too much to provide all the care and the help they tried to have come in and give them a hand just didn't work out so they put him in the care facility about a year ago. Now my sister is blaming herself for not keeping him at home. Very sad situation, and prayers would be greatly appreciated.

Prayers said. Too much for one family.

Drinking first cup of coffee. 21° with scattered clouds. Heading to 45° with mix of sun and clouds. Grocery shopping went well. Lots of paper products at Sam's Club. Later took diesel cans to station and filled them. $2.299/gallon. Cleaned last leaf of lawn for this year. Put mower, Trak-Vac and blower away until next spring. Back into house to relax. No plans for today.

Talked to youngest son. Has been at home for 3 weeks from his problems with no feeling in his hands and feet. Is on such strong meds he does not know where he is most of the time. Yesterday he found out in-laws tested positive for CV. Sure could use some of those special prayers. Going to be a very quiet Thanksgiving here.

Michigan Covid cases 321,121. Deaths 8,774. Oakland county cases 24,864. Deaths 1,203. There have been 6,500,000 Covid test conducted in Michigan so far. Another misleading news report in my town. Positive test have jumped 90% in the last week. Real story. There were 9 last week. This week 17. No report on how many are being treated that tested positive.

Some good news. When I let Sassy out this morning I could hear the owl hooting in woods.

Sandhill Cranes enjoying a sunny afternoon.

Don and Randy, thanks for the vaccine info.

Buckeye, funny video. When I went to Sam's Club yesterday I forgot my mask. Guy at door gave me one to use so I did not need to go back to car for one.

David, trim looks good.

Everyone stay healthy and safe.

Good Morning All.

We've noticed similar reporting trends. It seems that the news is laser focused on the doom and gloom.

They reported recently that a rural hospital was at "MAX" capacity.

Later as a foot note in the report they touched on the capacity for that hospital. Their covid ward was set up to handle 3 people.

Sounds scarier if they say maxed out.

interesting...just spent some time watching biscuit joinery on YouTube, plus use of "dominos".
I like the dominos better but way too expensive a tool for me, probably because Festool is price gouging due to having the patent on it.

Biscuits do not seem to add a lot of strength while screws do. But we both know that a modern glue like Titebond is stronger than
the wood fiber itself, so if properly glued, technically you don't need screws anyway. Using screws means you can keep going and finish the piece
as the glue dries. Using biscuits seems to mean you need to keep it clamped til morning.

Biscuits appear most useful for joining boards making table tops and for aligning parts. Nice thing is a biscuit joiner is a cheap tool

I think if I keep at this, and I do enjoy woodworking, it would make a nice addition to my tool mix. Probably ought to learn how to make a dado first...
and how to use a router. Lot to learn. And I definitely need a dust collection system first...

Good thoughts, Drew. I’ve used lot of bisquits doing my cabinets, both the bodies and the face frames. I will also use those square head finish screws (forget the name)or finished nails leaving just a small place to putty. I tend to think those larger screws detract a bit. Being you are making these as gifts of love rather than production, i gather you’d rather make something that 20 years from now someone will pickup and admire as someone says “your Uncle Drew make that back in 2020, that time of the great pandemic”

Dado would bring to another level. I tend to mess those up a bit at times. I’d suggest a router table or good table saw (or both)

I”ll bet Ted has some advice.

Back from town and enjoyed the last of the kabocha squash soup for lunch. On and off rain may force energy conservation rest of day.

Ted, not ready for occupancy. I haven’t even begun to do any interior work, but another day or 2 on exterior and then it’s concentrate on interior. Still have some planning to do as far as electrical and plumbling before I get too physical.

If you have a compressor, a pin nailer works well to hold things in alignment while the glue cures. Dados would be a good choice as well, but I’d still use the pin nailer even with the dados.

All chores completed, including all the driveway makers

Just watched a great flick, The Princess Bride, while imbibing a little Irish whiskey with an occasional beer chaser.

Wife and stepdaughter are in bed...guess I'll lie down too in a bit...
