No, it has 4, south facing, solar panels on the hub it uses a solar rechargeable battery that last for decades. 50,000 charging cycles. It needs only 4 hours of sunlight in 2 weeks.

My lightning alert is going off so far we have had 41 strikes within 25 miles - the closest was 11 miles away. I have not hear any thunder but have been inside.

All of our Hanna rain also soaked in, all .02” scattered over 25 minutes of very light rain detection today. We are up to 60 lightning strikes within 25 miles. The rain just can’t make it past I-35.
