Be very careful changing your address on line.
Morning rant.
One of the many reasons I have the attitude I have is because of the following. Seems every day I have a story about getting stroked! I finally figured it out. If you put yourself out there, leave your bubble, try something a little different, there are forces to put you right back in your place. Never try anything different, you will almost never have problems.
I traveled extensively for business, sometime for 6 weeks at a time. Ive moved 7 times in the last 11 years and not across the street, across the country. Because of my vagabond life, I was constantly stopping mail, starting mail, changing address etc.etc. I did it online. I was always amazed by how easy it was. Dealing with the goat. is usually not easy.
So it became 2nd nature, I could do it in minutes, very easy.
Here痴 how it works.....they ask a few reasonable questions, old address, new address, people involved, really very efficient. Then they ask for a credit card. They make a small insignificant charge to somehow confirm your identity. Maybe 50 cents? That痴 it, easy peasy. Except.
It痴 been a few years since I changed address but when I searched usps change address, first listing came up, said usps so I went to the web page.
Everything on that page looked normal. The process was the same as it always was. Usps logos everywhere.
Then they ask for a credit card, just like in the past.
As soon as you give them the credit card the hit you with a $40-$50 charge!! It痴 a.third party private sector co doing the work of our hard working govt employees! I bet my life, he値l, I値l bet your life that Uncle Sam gets a cut of that $40.
And just try to cancel the 登rder? Not a snow balls chance. Man I got pissed off. I will cut my nose off to spite my face, done it many times before.
I immediately canceled the credit card over the phone, with a real Asian person! Within minutes.
You know what痴 coming. I知 now fighting that charge on a canceled credit card. That痴 goin to take forever. To make things worse, they never sent the last credit card invoice so now I知 fighting them over the late fees. Never late once in 40 years! More insults.
The private co web page was designed to mirror the usps web page and deceive the customer, it did, The $40 price is there because thats about what people are willing to swallow without a fight, they know that.
The next day
I went and got one of the old fashioned post cards for free, from the post office, and did it with a pencil, remember them?

Editorial comment. Our govt., any govt, is such a drain on our economy and is radically changing the culture. Maybe you like the changes, that痴 fine but, it痴 happening and it痴 the govt., it痴 ou populations apathy and the govt. willingness to leverage that apathy. They are more than happy to raise your children, educate the population, feed us, define morals, make and enforce the rules but in the end....They can稚 do nothin!
Here痴 1 quick example that might be near and dear to many of you.
I am a tree farmer, a recognized status by the Nc dept of revenue. It saved me $ on sales tax on my tractor.
Out of nowhere I get a letter from the Nc dept. of 努ho cares? they want a copy of last years taxes or they will discontinue my status as a farmer, right away with the threats, etc etc. big deal!
Here痴 the rub. I spent hours and hours trying to download a copy of my taxes. I had filed on line and found it virtually impossible to get a copy! Try to call and see what happens! It痴 insulting.
Finally I found a third party co who would do it for you, navigate the govt process etc etc. I paid whatever the fee was, not insignificant, they sent me an e mail with my taxes. I printed it, 85 pages and $15 at office max. This entire process took me weeks!
You cant make this stuff up. I get home and in the mail is a letter from the original govt. office who demanded my taxes in the first place. Whoops, sorry, we screwed up. It痴 next years taxes we want, and, if you don稚 send them blah blah. More threats and another insult.
The govt. is the biggest employer in every state. That痴 another insult. They are so incompetent. In addition to having millions of dedicated employees, every time something comes up they hire consultants. The military has millions of contract employees, double dipping. Public education has private consultants on annual contracts, double dipping It痴 endless.
The type of person drawn to govt employment is not usually a go getter, a problem solver, an independent entrepreneur.....usually not that kind of thinker etc.? Not usually.
It is what it is but, I believe everyone agrees with me regarding the motivations of govt employment and the type of person it attracts, to one degree or another. So what should we expect?
I致e asked this question for 20 years now.
Tell me 1 thing the govt does well. In my world that means, on time, on budget, quality work. Please, someone, anyone, tell me 1 thing govt does well. Most folks my age chime in with Medicare! Because it痴 free! 30% waste, graft, theft, corruption...please.
It痴 disingenuous to expect them to fix the virus or anything else like........... govt. education, obesity, addiction, infrastructure, rate of violence etc when we all know, they can稚 even tie their own shoes. Govt people are not problem fixers, they are problem makers. And boy do they like forms
