73F, partly cloudy and calm @ 21:00 ... ended up getting a substantial amount of rain today.

Including last night's, easily over an inch and probably closer to 2" ... judging from the amount of water in the pan up at the shop. Things cleared out this afternoon, first with broken clouds ... then significant sunshine.

Spent most of the afternoon running around, finishing up with a quick trip by Ace Hardware (scored a couple of tube feeders at a good price) while The Woman hit the grocery for a few items. Then pet store for cat litter and treats for Squeak (who is now comatose after gorging herself)

While at Ace I grabbed 3' of 1/4" polyethylene tubing to repair the line for the automatic drain valve on the compressor down in the garage. It ruptured yesterday ... just as I was about the blow out the radiator on the Kubota. It's probably NOT the correct type of tubing, but at $ 0.45 for 3' ... sure, why not ? Need to check up in the shed to see if I have any more of the original tubing (possibly somewhat better suited for heat) or even better: some copper tubing.

After we got back she broiled up some Hebrew National dogs with some canned chili dog chili (perfect) she picked up at the grocery, and some Bushes Baked Beans ... delicious ...

After that I headed up to the shop to work for a bit while the blueberry pie was baking.

Came down for a piece with some ice cream in time to catch a little of the News Hour.

Just filled the new feeders and hung them ... heading back up to the shop here in a few.

Hopefully we'll get no more rain tomorrow and I can get back to mowing ...

Good evening all. 67F for the start, rain ending 1 inch in rain gauge, light wind. Plenty wind overnight based on branches on ground. Wind blew north, south, and west today, 8.5 to 13.5 in morning then back off some late afternoon, sky cleared off, and high temp was 90F. Bike rid this morning, water was a little high for me to ride through, turned around rode to back side of LW #2 then home. after lunch nap and worked on progress on Volagi update, boat cover update, tying someone to block off louvers in attic so air is pulled from soffits to ridge vents have some caulking to do to cut down on wasps in attic.
Covid update: Cooke unchanged, Montague unchanged, Grayson confirmed cases 521, active 111.
RS nice repair on wrench
Drew sorry about the missing list, no you wont know what to order next time! Many people help their own depression when they reach out to help others. In weld there are two kinds of welds, those that are strong enough, and those that are not.
Eric is the digging over, hope the fence reclamation goes ok and the sheep stay put.
Billy I promised my wife I would always wear a life jacket when boating solo. And if you put a board on top of fence, guess who will chew on it ;) Garden looks nice, thanks for pic
Thomas need pic of guard when done.
Rich sounds like good weekend, nice job by the rider.
Ron glad FD went well, great pic of dragonfly
Don hope reservations work out for the gym and pool, do they have waiting list for the cancellations? congrats on tomatoes coming in.
RNG good luck sorting out the A/C starting issues off grid.
Bird, I got 4 inch in 3 days. :dance1:
Ken nice work on the stump, know what it is like to have chainsaw issues and no backup :(
Ted looking for to pics of your new dog house when finished ;)
RNG wish I could help but what ever I could suggest would be a wag. :confused3:
Thomas nice progress on guard.
RS Squeak reminds me of a cat we had growing up. He would eat so much he would waddle to under an end table to sleep off the meal. One day Mom moved a chest where the end table was, and you could hear the thunk then loud meow of displeasure through out the house when cat walked into chest with eyes closed. Needless to say end table was moved back that afternoon.
prayers for all especially Drew and Jay
stay safe and healthy you all.

Good morning! 66 now with a steady rain. Maybe 78 later and good chance of rain off and on today. That is ok, we need it. Yesterday the high was 88, had a heavy rain start as we went to bed.

Was a busy weekend. Got the mowing done Saturday. Then went to the short track Saturday night. A friend went with me, I worry about his health every time he goes (transplant 12 years ago), but when we get there, he seems energized and happy. Had a hard time finding him most of the evening, he was walking around socializing with people he knows.

Kid I help won 3 of 4 heat races, including winning his first race ever on a TT track. 3 - 3rds and one win in the finals. He dominated a talented field in the 450 Open final. It wasn稚 even close. There were a lot of riders there, 200+ signed up. Was a late night. I was dragging yesterday.

Sounds like he had fun. I'm amazed there were 200 entries. Wow!

I don't know if you guys follow Dr. Seheult who does the covid 19 videos on the YouTube MedCram channel. Today's video was pretty interesting. I think they are made for other Doctors so I have to work at it to understand them.

Chris

I did, and I do like them, but they take quite a bit of time to listen and absorb.

Kyle, do you know any of the stabbing victims in Giddings.

Haven't heard any names. I passed by it at 7:20 ish, did not notice major issue. Wifey is worried that because a black man (perp) was shot, that outside groups might come here.

good morning all.
Still warm down here Roy.

Blueberry pie and ice cream, RS you are living large, that sure sounds good.
coffee is brewing, slept ok,still waking up with queasy stomach but it's manageable and to be expected.

had a nice elderly lady stop by my room around dinner last night, said oh hello Mr Miller, now you have four people in here right?
No ma'am I'm Drew and I live here by myself, but it sure is nice to meet you. Nice to meet you too, and she went off in search of Mr Miller.
There are never more than two folks in these rooms... Reminds me to be grateful of the shape I'm in...

Maybe Jay is just taking a break, and maybe he is medically challenged, hope the former. A very helpful giving guy, hope he is doing ok.

when nurses at the hospital can't find veins on patients, mostly older, they bring out some kind of blue light on a long pole that illuminates the arm and shows the veins inside, pretty neat. Would be nice to have something like that for welding, so you could see inside and confirm it wasn't all slagged. I know they make expensive machines to do that, and for sure steel is harder to look through than flesh. Might have something to do with evaluating magnetic structure, that could be simpler. Otherwise we weld that hook on, put an increasing load on it, and hope for the best. Well us amateurs do, you seasoned welders know what you are doing. I would really like to do more welding, was fascinated with it as I bumbled through the beginning phases of stick welding. And since I can never remember the difference between TIG and MIG (one is for aluminum?) never learned that "improved" method. Going back to high school, always worked in wood, never in metal. This is a skill I'd like to learn more about, but will have to wait a while until I get a shop again. Welding simply seems to make you self-reliant, often don't have to wait for the repairman because you are him. That can be very satisfying, like how you guys fix your older cars, washing machines, etc. Often helped today by self help instructional videos on Youtube.

My pc fan runs too much, I think it's dusty in there and needs a good vacuuming. That may be a project for today. Except I need a screwdriver kit which instead of following me got packed away so have to see what is holding case on. Do pc's have capacitors that need to drain down? Safety first...of course vacuum hose is plastic which helps

75 degrees already/still going up to 90 today, afternoon showers as usual. Have a great day guys

Kyle, great tomato haul, nice colors too, and a very healthy veggie to eat.

Good morning,

Digging was going well yesterday, until the machine decided it was tired and would rather not do any more work. Fortunately it was back on dry land at the time so at least I could attempt to track down the electrical fault without wearing waders. Fetched a multimeter and did a few checks while the driver/owner, who is a really nice guy, was still there to turn the ignition key, then went back home for tea. The internet found me an entertaining workshop manual for 14 pounds and the writeup indicated it checks for under voltage to protect the batteries. The batteries looked ok, but if a high resistance produced a voltage drop in the monitoring circuit, that could help explain symptoms. Cleaned a few connections and one in particular looked really bad. It started ok afterwards but can't say more than that until we try to dig again this afternoon.

RNG, best I don't give you numbers to say how much pond depth or area increase in case our environment agency read TBN :D Actually, they should be fine - we are only taking out a small quantity of silt ... ;)

Don, surprised to hear you get dust from Africa too, wouldn't have thought the wind blew in that direction, or does it circulate the globe first ?

Drew, any high voltage caps in a standard PC are all inside an internal enclosed power supply unit, you should be fine if you are only cleaning the main PCBs and fans. Happy dusting :)

My fireman neighbor has nicely agreed to deliver my Gravely garden tractor to my old friend in PA who has several other Gravely's, the walk behind kind made long ago and utterly indestructible. Problem is it's an 8 hour plus drive, too long for a turnaround, so they have to stop someplace at a motel on way home. Was looking at covid map and gosh the whole area is bright red. What I did find out from my SIL is apparently Hampton Inn has a superior corporate plan for dealing with covid, rooms sit for a full day in between renting, and rooms are also thoroughly cleaned and disinfected. I told my friend to look at Google Maps, find a Hampton Inn on way home and I would reimburse him for room. He is also taking my Kubota UTV to my oldest brother's home in Virginia, but can come home same day for that.

Have used Uship before to move things, like my Kubota tractor down to NC, they are very competitive since multiple haulers bid on the job. Anyone else use them and what has your experience been? this time happy to give business to friend who is looking forward to a road trip. He also wants to go look at the farm I grew up on, not that it is recognizable any more. Someone bought it and put a horribly garish 12,000 sf Tara on it, so out of place for Bucks County, but the old apple orchard is still there

I was trying to prepare him for driving conditions in Philadelphia area. They are so manic compared to NC, everything really does slow down when one gets further South.
Driving the Blue Route up to PA turnpike near Philadelphia is some of the worst driving I've experienced. Folks in small cars road race on the curves, doing easily 20 over.
You have to be very careful changing lanes since overtaking speed of these folks gives you little reaction time. Once back in NC, it's 5 to 7 over, and I almost always drive on cruise control anyway, saves gas and for sure prevents tickets.

My friend will be pulling my old trailer he bought from me, and I think most trailers should be limited to 65mph anyway, particularly in hot weather. A single axle trailer blowing a tire is bad news, can upset the pulling vehicle when it starts whipping around. Lot of youtube videos of whole rig flipping over. I put uprated tires on the one ton trailer, I think max capacity is 3000 pounds for tires, but I told new owner to check air pressure carefully and also for any checking/cracking. Always a challenge finding a good quality trailer tire, currently think the South Koreans and Japanese have the edge.
