Good Morning!!!! 55F @ 5:30AM. Sunshine and clouds mixed. High around 80F. Winds S at 10 to 20 mph.
Our CoVid-19 count seems to be rising by about five a week, I think largely due to increased testing, as there are only three in the hospital and no additional deaths. Fingers crossed it stays that way as more restrictions are lifted, and more people turn up for mass demonstrations.
FWIW, Drew, after my mom had her first stroke, she was given both physical and occupational therapy. The physical therapy was to help her regain motion and strength, the occupational was to help her find different ways of dressing and caring for herself in spite of her paralysis. Once she had progressed to the point where she was no longer improving, she was discharged from the rehab facility and placed in long term care, what most people call a nursing home. She was able to return home only after her boyfriend showed he was able to care for her needs and that things like stairs and bathing wouldn't be a problem. And that a variety of in home care services had been arranged. Dad, on the other hand, had much much more paralysis, never recovered much, and never returned home, ending his days in a nursing home. But both of them went through the same living situation transitions, and evaluations in between, and I suspect that's going to be the case with you as well. :2cents:
I wonder how much longer young men and women will step up to become police officers with all this "defund the police" talk going on. Anarchy seems just around the corner, Lou.
The new shed looks like it's been there all along, Ted.
Your father was part of the Greatest Generation, Randy, and they don't quite make 'em like that anymore. None of us would be here without them.
I've only had nectar go bad once, RS, and it took nearly a month. These days, I'm lucky of a jug of the stuff lasts three days, and right now, the little buggers are swarming the feeder outside the bedroom sliding door, letting me know I need to climb out of bed and fill them all again. There's six of 'em on the feeder right now, and they're taking turns knocking each other off.
Another great photo, Ron, but what an odd looking hummer. What kind is it?
It's always something, isn't it, Buppies? At least the new grass is benefiting from all the rain.
Hope you can get along with the squirrels as well as you have with Booboo, Thomas!
A dozen Canada geese just flew by not fifty feet from the window at eye level, honking and calling loud enough to wake the dead. Talk about noisy neighbors!
Got word from the guy I've been working with at Everything Attachments that they'll make an eighty-four inch tooth bar for the big tractor, and it'll take three or four weeks. I was hoping it could ship with the grapple, but it went out yesterday. I just need to send them a drawing of the stove bolts that hold the bucket edge in place so they get the countersunk square holes right, and McMaster makes that easy on their website. Took delivery of the hydraulic couplers that the grapple will use day before yesterday. I decided to go with flat faced couplers, as the design spills a lot less oil than the old Pioneer style.
Updated the new MacBook Pro to the latest version of macOS yesterday, and so far, so good. The iPhone is getting an update installed right now, so fingers crossed that goes OK, too.
Got some seat time on the tractor yesterday moving dirt onto the bank between the garage and pump house. Well actually, most of that time was spent picking rocks out of the bank, and out of the fill dirt, and dumping them onto the closest rock pile. Still haven't been able to move the firetruck because the wind has been blowing so hard I'm afraid to unhook the tarp that covers it. And I'm planning to swap out the ratchet straps for bungee cords so I can get it off quicker in an emergency, and the bungee cords haven't been delivered yet. So after enough rock picking to get Mr. Back complaining, I put up a couple pieces of "C" channel as shelves for all the spray cans of solvent and lubricant I use in the garage so they wouldn't be taking up space on the workbench. There's almost nothing on the bench for the first time in years, and I'm trying to keep it that way as I move stuff back into the garage from storage. Brought in a foot high stack of shop manuals and instructions to weed through that was also sitting on the bench, and decided to take a page out of Bruce's book and have a nap instead.
Today's high is only supposed to be in the low 80s, so I'm gonna start the day by running another lead for the satellite TV into the bedroom. There are already two in here, but they're on the wrong walls. I get to go up in the attic and drill a hole into the top of the wall, then snake the cable down to where I can reach it through another mouse hole. Finding that wall's top plate'll be fun through 18" of blown in insulation...
Hope everyone enjoys a great weekend!
