Good Morning!!!! 49F @ 5:00AM. A mix of clouds and sun. High 73F. Winds SW at 5 to 10 mph.
Yesterday started and ended with rain, the afternoon edition spiced up with thunder, lightning, and small hail. Came down in buckets for a few minutes, bringing the day's total to 0.81". No more rain in the 10-day, and it looks like 90s by the weekend and 100s by mid next week.
Read through the installation and operator's guides for the generator and inverter yesterday, and still couldn't find the type of signal needed by the generator for the auto start. Called the salesman I got it from, and he confirmed it's just a relay closure. So during a dry spell in the afternoon, I hooked the battery back up and found the two wires involved. Shorted them together and the generator started, pulled them apart and it stopped. While I was at it, I updated the generator controller to the "propane" setting, and verified that the setting was persistent across battery disconnects. The inverter has a relay closure on one of its auxiliary outputs, so just need to run two signal wires between the two for the hookup. Been wondering how this would work for a good six months, so it's a relief to have it nailed down finally. The inverter can be programmed to activate that relay based on battery bank voltage, and the controller for the inverter has even more sophisticated generator control functions available. So I've still got more homework to do.
Got a call from the Kubota dealer that the old tractor is done, so I'll run over there today and trailer it home. Still have some repairs to do on it myself, but for now, it'll just sit until I can get to it.
The order of parts from Messick's showed up yesterday, so I'm hoping to get those installed this afternoon, and see if the flail mower fits OK on the new tractor. Just hope the PTO shaft is long enough. If there's time and the grass is dry enough, I'll spend a little time mowing.
