35 going to 63. Freeze warning on NWS site.

Hope Sophie gets well soon.

Kyle, we don't have scorpions here so don't know how to deal with them, but sure sounds like a puzzle how you can balance safety for your family and that of the chickens. I know you'll figure it out.

Cut a massive cedar down...it is one of two that had died and was out in the open beside the road...21+ inch trunk, depending on whether you measure where all the branches swelled the diameter, or try to measure between them. After trimming 7 piles of branches for the grapple to move, parked the tractor on the road with flashers to slow any oncoming vehicles as I felled it...just in case it fell onto the road. It cooperated and came down nicely where I could cut it into sections and grab with the grapple. Ran out of time to do the other one because the storm came in, but did do some other clean up of smaller stuff along that section of fenceline.

Did the diesel and dump run. Man working the transfer station warned me again that the county is over 140% capacity on dumpsters due to home clean up projects, and may start forcing all but "kitchen" trash and recycle to be taken to the county landfill, about 3 times as far for me.

Good morning all. Another day of slapping on the sunscreen. My wife got me to try a different UV blocker yesterday that the grand kids have been using. It dries within seconds to leave non-sticky skin, much better than the usual stuff, especially with so much dust around.

The steel for the lawn edging went in quicker than those I put in last year. Like most things, the more you do, the better you get at discovering what doesn't work. As before, I made a simple slotted guide at the end of each piece to allow some vertical angular movement, then welded each length together in situ. I need to bring in more soil today to finish off. That wouldn't take long with tractor and bucket, however my wife wants me to sieve it first to get rid of any couch grass roots and stones, then move it with a wheelbarrow - should keep me out of trouble for quite a while.

Kyle, so many scorpions  Something has to be attracting them, what has changed since last year ?

RNG, I don't use AWG often so had to look up what 6 gauge equates to in mm. Wow, you weren't kidding about welding cable !

Good morning, the temp is 13°F and going to a high of 34. Wind NW 13 gusting to 21 mph. Sunny.
Maybe this is old man winters' last gasp.

I surely hope that this is the last of winter for this season, I have half of a lean-to that needs tearing down and I want it down BEFORE I go back to work in two weeks. Yup, holidays are just about over.

Kyle, you've given me one more reason why I do NOT want to live in Texas.

I would have used my M101CDN2 (M416), except it is 6 hours north of me getting some welding done. So is the Jeep that hauls it. The van did a good job exactly as I described it. 50 in the first load and 30 in the second + 4 bags of peat. She was riding on the bump stops, but it is only 6 miles, most of it paved.

As soon as it warms up to into the 40s, I will get at the lean-to.

Have a safe and healthy day all

Good morning! 24 now, hopefully it struggles to 48 or so today.

This is supposed to be the 3rd coldest April in the last 30 years in this part of Ohio.

2nd cup of coffee is tasting good. And the little cat is enjoying my thigh this morning. She takes advantage of these opportunities!

32 cases of COVID locally, 0 deaths. Restrictions are coming off next week. Work sent guidelines to allow limited employee travel starting next week. Hope they don稚 want me to come back to the office, I am enjoying working from home.

Everyone stay safe out there

Poured first cup of coffee. 20° with mostly clear skies this morning. Heading to 40° with some rain. Today is going to be a mostly conserve energy day. I am getting a bunch of household chores done. Missing my house cleaner.
Trying to check if one could jump the 20' to bird feeders. Local rodent.

RNG, DJI Mini is supposed to be delivered tomorrow. But getting it running may take a while. Hope to have my son/GS work me to get it running. They both are working so it will be awhile for that first video.

Mostly, my wood stove has been converted to gas logs. No need for kindling any more.

Kyle, scorpion infestation. Have you tried Boric Acid.

Rich, working from home can be any enjoyable way to work.

Eric, that some heavy duty edging.

Drew, Good luck with your treatment today. There is also a check valve in city water line. That could let water leak out of city water line.

David, hope meds work for Sophie.

LS, another nice video. Did you get mulch from Lowes?

Don, that's a lot of trimming. What do they do with it?

Everyone stay safe and healthy.

Good Morning All.

Good morning. It's 72° here this morning and we should get to low 80's this afternoon with a chance of storm after lunch.

Yesterday was more yaupon clearing.

IMG_1779.jpg

This tree was especially "fun" as .. besides the yaupon it was full of greenbriar and lots of poison ivy vines.

IMG_1787.jpg

I used my HF Lynxx 40 volt pole saw to cut everything off about 12" above the ground then sprayed the stumps with tryclopyr / diesel.

IMG_1785.jpg

I'll come back and chop the stumps off lower after the T/D has a chance to migrate to the yaupon roots.

I burned two big brush piles Monday and nothing but ash left. I'm hoping both get rained on today so, I can scoop up the ash with the FEL.

Our cleaning lady is coming this morning so I'll take that opportunity to go run some errands. I need to pick up the replacement washer fluid reservoir, for the New Holland. I may run into the Sam's in Katy and a stop at H-E-B as well. This will be my first time to leave the ranch in 3+ weeks. We still have a freezers nearly full of food, both here and Richmond home, so really don't need much except bread and milk. Yeast is still hard to find so our bread machine still sits on the shelf in the pantry.

Hope everyone continues to stay healthy and safe. We've had 8 total cases here, three recovered, none in hospital.

Prayers to all.
