Good Friday Morning. It's 54° and calm this morning with sunshine this afternoon we're forecast to see 76° this afternoon. They're forecasting we'll see 80°on Sunday.

Wife returned from Birmingham AL, last evening, and will be at ranch by lunch time so ... I'll be under close supervision this weekend. . Plan is to finish decorating for Christmas 5his weekend. There will be pointing ... and lifting / toting. Guess who's the designated lifter / toter??

Randy ... we're praying for a great outcome.

Drew ... glad your making progress with feet issues.

Jay ... nice table art! Keep the pictures coming.

Rich ... great moon shot. I saw similar from our east porch yesterday morning but ... phone was charging so missed a picture. Thanks for sharing yours with us.

Ron ... enjoy your ribs. I was amazed at well mine turned out.

BEF ... hope you get to feeling better.

WNG ... good news on your skunks. One of our neighbor borrowed my live trap, a couple years ago, for skunks getting in his chicken house. He called me after the 2nd day proud that there were two in the trap. He asked what to do next? I told him to use the attached rope to pull it away from the chicken house then dispatch the skunks with a 22LR. After a long silence ... "oh, is that what the rope was for?" I said "was"? He then admitted he'd taken the rope off cause it was "in his way". I told him good luck and have a nice day. I never really found out what happened but a few days later there was a brand new trap sitting inside our front gate. I never asked ... he never offered.

Hope everyone has a great day and weekend.

Prayers to all.

Good Morning!!!! 52F @ 4:00AM. Rain. High 57F. Winds SSE at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 90%. Rainfall near a quarter of an inch.
Weather wacker sez rain should start around 8AM, and will shower/rain rest of day. Not much accumulation and mild temps, I'll take it.

Great story, PJ. Jon Anderson is really the spiritual leader of that band, Chris and Rick more the rowdy rock'n'roller types, at least that's what the press would have us think. Neat that you got to talk guitars with Chris!

Yes, AXS is the station with all the music documentaries. Yesterday caught a quick 30 minute profile of Don Felder, one of the Eagles, where he discussed the songs that influenced his musical writing.

Drop us a line later when you feel up to it, Randy, but don't be in any hurry. Focus on your recovery and get well soon...

Great moon shots! Not much chance to see it here with all the clouds, and the meteor shower will be a wash out, too. We're just a little below average for moisture this year, a lot better than in some previous. But we sure don't need to play catch up all at once.

I've always wanted to have a trailer ball on the FEL, Rick. Seems like that would make shuffling trailers around so much easier, and maybe save some sore necks, too.

No bad news at the doctor's office yesterday, but he did write a 'scrip for X-rays to maybe figure out what's been bothering my back. Cautioned me that the usual radiologist I've been using charges too much, but United Healthcare doesn't do a very good job keeping its provider listing current. Went to two different offices only to find them closed or not doing x-rays anymore, got a UHC lady on the phone and she called another that wouldn't answer, either. Ended up at a brand new facility; won't be surprised if all that fancy overhead ends up with a fancy bill, too.

Snap-On man didn't have the saw I wanted, tried to sell me last year's model. Probably won't see my Christmas present 'till next year now.

Walmart did have the two batteries I needed waiting for me, but would only issue store credit for the cores. One big jug of Delo took care of that. Got the one installed in the side-by-side when I got home; didn't want to do it in the rain today. Clamp on the positive terminal has been shaky for months, and picked last night to break, but it'll work well enough to get through this next series of storms, I hope.:duh:

I'm not superstitious either, but it seems more things go wrong on the 12th and 14th than on any Friday the 13th so far.:confused2: That said, I found a giant 1.75L bottle of Willett Pot Still Reserve Bourbon at Costco yesterday, and that fancy bottle jumped right into my shopping cart with hardly any help from me. And the grocery store had a couple overgrown bottles of a local brewery's sweet stout, so this month's 12th turned out pretty OK.:D

It's nice not to have to go anywhere for a few days after all that running around.

TGIF gang!:drink:

I suspect your old trap met an untimely end at the end of a 12 gauge, Rick. But your neighbor sounds like an upstanding guy!

Drinking first cup of coffee. 13° with partly cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 36° with partly cloudy skies. Venison roast dinner yesterday was very good. Top off with a few sips of Amaretto.
Woke up this morning with several Face-Time request and text messages to talk to my Grand Daughter. Great Grand daughter Luna was born at 9:55 pm 12/11/2019. 7 lbs 20 inches. One of my wife's last request was to remind GD that her birthday was on 12/11. It was kind of a joke because other GGD was born on my birthday.

Not sure how you celebrate birth of a GGD. :dance1::cool2::drink:
Took some pictures of the full moon with Canon camera this morning. They all came out like a bright sun. Need to get my tripod out. This was the last full moon of the decade.
Need to get packages in mail today. Enough procrastination.

RNG, when I installed LED headlights on my motorhome I had to reverse the high and low beam wires. I also installed relays and larger ground wires.

Drew, good luck with sound control.

Looking, not sure we are going to have a white Christmas here in SE Michigan. I may have wasted my time putting snowblower on mower. :(

Jay, keeping sending the warm pictures.

Bird, hope you had a good nights sleep in new chair.

Prayers and best wishes for all.

Good Morning All.

Congrats Ron and Family

Happy A, J-!

Good Morning!!!! 53F @ 5:15AM. Showers this morning becoming less numerous during the afternoon hours. High 61F. Winds SSE at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 40%.

Town run today to dump off recycling, pick up some parts, get a physical and an x-ray, see the Snap-On man, buy some batteries, and the rest of the stuff on the list, which I've checked more than twice. Probably be gone most of the day.

Took the touring bike headlight apart again yesterday, and carefully compared the old H4 halogen bulb to the new LED, paying particular attention the geometry of the filaments vs. the LED locations. And they pretty much line up one for one. But as I was fiddling with the bulb, I learned that I'd been mounting it on the reflector housing incorrectly, which explains why I'd never been impressed with the lighting on the bike to begin with. And I'm pretty sure the problem was inherited from the previous owner, and I just copied it thinking it was the thing to do. I also played around a bit by leaving the bail that holds the lamp in place off, and moved the lamp in and out of the reflector, and learned that even a small amount of travel makes a big difference in the beam pattern. The garage was too small to give much of a clue as to how the light will show when riding, but I think I'm at least headed in the right direction now, and will have something working much better than it's ever been. But with rain in the forecast through Saturday, I'll have to be patient to find out.

Most of the TV I watch is captured on a DVR, but last night I was flipping through channels and landed on one featuring families of musicians who were competing against each other for a quarter million dollar prize and a recording contract. And the music was amazing! So many talented people out there you've never heard about, it's amazing! When that was over, they ran one of Dan Rather's "Amazing Interview" episodes, this one featuring Jon Anderson of the progressive rock group Yes.You can bet I was glued to my chair for that one, listening to Anderson delve into the roots of the band, and all the twists and turns along the way. And when that was over, the next show on the same channel was a documentary on the Beach Boy's Pet Sounds album, covering more or less the same material as the Love and Mercy movie from earlier in the week. During that show, they mentioned tapes from '66 and '67 that were supposed to be the next album after Pet Sounds, but Brian Wilson's issues had prevented coming to light. Until the mid 2000s, when he pulled them out, restored them, and then created two new releases. One of the original recordings, with out takes and studio chatter, a sort of audio documentary, but not an album because the songs were never really finished. So a little later, Wilson went back into the studio with all new musicians and picked up where he left off in '67, but with a voice forty years older. So there might be a new CD or two under the tree this year. It turns out that channel was repeating the two shows for the rest of the evening, so I called up an old college buddy to let him know (he's an even bigger Yes fan than I am), and spent the next two hours catching up. Kind of a long, windy, ending to the evening, but a very nice one.

Hang in there, gang, Friday's comin'!

32°F and cloudy this morning, going up to 50° today. We'll take another mild December day, as the weatherman says we should expect some accumulating snowfall Sunday night into Monday. Guess I'll put the rear blade back on the tractor this weekend.

Speaking of Yes, RNG ... I had the wonderful fortune of meeting the band after a show they played here in St. Louis back in July 2002. The drummer I was playing with at the time also worked as a driver for the amphitheater, driving the bands to and from their hotels, and he got me an all-access backstage pass for that show. I stood off on the side of the stage while Chris Squire played his bass solo. After the show, I got to talk with everyone except Steve Howe, who apparently has a phobia about meeting people. All were super nice. I was sitting in the hallway between the dressing rooms - sitting next to Alan White while he was winding down from the show - when I heard that distinctive voice ask, "When will the van be here to take us back to the hotel?" When I turned around, there was Jon Anderson. Wonderful guy. Rick Wakeman was walking around trying to find the right door to get to the meet-n-greet. He couldn't wait to go meet some fans. My drummer had also dated a woman who was on the road with Yes as their massage therapist. He convinced her to introduce me to Chris Squire (one of my bass guitar heroes), and I spent about 20 minutes sitting in his dressing room chatting with him about bass player stuff ... basses, strings, amps, influences (ironic), and just general musician babble. I'd heard a lot of bad things about him as a person over the years, and he lived up to none of it that day. One of the most pleasant conversations I've ever had with a famous musician.

Yes, big fan here. My buddy watches AXS, but I don't have cable, so he's telling me about it. He brought his Ovation Balladeer 12 string to work yesterday so we could play it at lunch. If only I had a thimbleful of musical talent. They say learning an instrument is possibly a good way to help the brain stave off dementia...

Eric, LOL meteor showers for a name....

OFF TODAY! Trying to determine which mole to whack back down.

Coffee good.
