You do know that you can get a JDQA grapple from several manufacturers?

Yeah, I was aware that there are a couple manufacturers that make JDQA grapples, but I just really like the idea of having the whole wide world of SSQA implement variety available to me... maybe I just need to get over it.

Just pay attention to the weight of the attachment itself. You don't need one capable of lifting 2 tons...the extra mass of the attachment comes right out of your payload budget.

I thought about that too. Esp. with regards to the used implement market. But then I decided there just aren't that many things I need or even want, and on those few implements (bucket, grapple - maybe someday - forks), I wasn't willing to settle for mismatched gear for my tractor. Besides, it is doubtful it would probably never pay for the price of the adapter anyway.

Hah, yeah, when the FEL can only lift 1200lbs "paying" for the weight of a 4000-lb capacity plate doesn't really make sense.
In addition to the added weight coming out of the FEL capacity, there is also the issue that the adapter plate moves the load further out away from the tractor body, further decreasing the effective capacity of the FEL.

Exactly. Another thing I like with the JD QA setup is the simplicity. There really isn't anything to get rusty and seize up even if it is neglected for years.

Fair enough. Thanks for the feedback everybody. Looks like I'll just stick with the JDQA, get whatever implements I can with that, and if there's any I desperately need that I can't get with JDQA I'll weld on an adapter plate.
