Words can't express how Don must be feeling just now.

All I can say is, I really hope things start to get better, and I will say a prayer for them.

We'll certainly pray for them. You sometimes wonder how so many bad things can happen to good people.

I know, it always seems to happen to the nicest people doesn't it ?

Just a short update: We went to Hugo Oklahoma yesterday for the funeral. It was a tough one fellas I admit. Death is always "tuff," but knowing Don and his story personally, made it harder than most. He is undoubtedly in the top 3 of men I have known that I have the utmost respect for without question.

He was in good spirits when we left, He is strong in his faith and beliefs. He said " He knows soon he will lay beside her soon enough and rest until the voice of God calls them up" (what we believe in our church, not to start any arguments, just to clarify)

Also found out she had won the "million mile safety award" purdy cool for a "girl":D

One comment I have to add, something I have seen more when I was young. As the funeral procession went to the burial site, almost every car on both sides of the highway, pulled to the road side. even while the line was over a mile long. My hat is off to the people of Oklahoma for their courtesy. Wasn't like that when we buried my grandfather 2 years ago here.

Oh, and I thought I edited the post as Roy showed, but now it still says "Goof" and wont let me edit more.

Partly my fault, Dennis. Editing as Roy showed only changes that one post and I had edited several in this thread that way. But I just now edited the "thread" instead of an individual post so I think that fixed it.

I, too, have noticed that you don't see that as often. When I was a patrolman, we not only pulled to the roadside, but we got out of the squad car and removed our uniform cap until the funeral procession passed.

Thank you for the kind words and all the prayers.

Bird, thanks! that was getting me a bit confused since I thought I had changed it. Your right too, when i was in LE, I would stop and do the same, if I/we saw a flag involved, we'd stand at attention and salute, sometimes even if we where the escort as a sign of respect for the family and deceased.

From what I gather, Don has/will give his farm to my SIL and brother now, but will continue to drive his truck and train my brother.
