I don't know. I just sold an 15 year old Ford 1320 for what I had in it. Actually I kept the LP 84" rake that came with it.
A guy I know sold a JD TLB on e bay for 5k more than he had in it.

Well, I guess that's true when you start going back a ways in years. I bgt a restored (no show quality, but an every day driver) 65 Chevy c10 for $5400 about 5 years ago...it cost about $800 new.:D

Good thread! I've got all kinds of tractors, green, two types of orange (Kioti and Kubota -love them both) and of course blue. I'd recommend taking a look at all tractors, you never know what you might like...

As for the frozen clutch. My favorite tractor is my 62 801 diesel. I've had a frozen clutch on this one a time or two, as it sits too long unused. To get around this, I'll start it out of gear and let it run until it is good and hot, then try the clutch. If that doesn't work, I'll jam it in gear - hurts a bit - and ride it around until it pops... pays to keep the clutch pedal depressed with some type of device if you can rig it.

Don't force yourself into a new clutch just yet!

I think that is great what you got for your tractor! Around here, it is not uncommon to find tractors selling used for more then what they were new. Condition is a big thing here since farm country bangs up tractors pretty well... But for the most part a tractor goes for a decent price in ole N.W. Ohio... I'm with pretty much everyone else here on the NH forum, Blue fo life! But... there are a lot of good tractors out there, just pick what suits you best, fit, finish, comfort, etc. At the end of the day, YOU need to be the happy one! But maybe ole Blue wants to be sitting in your barn again ;)

Dreamin_Tractors, did you paint that thing before you sold it, or are those pictures before you used it? That thing looks immaculate, not like 2/5 years of use. Everyone made fun of my stuff until I got it looking used. :) (implements and FEL that is, I bought the tractor used)

I'm pretty much blue to the bone, doubt I'll ever own anything else, but my cousin took us on a hay ride for his kid last Saturday, pulled by a Kubota. I was impressed with how daggone quiet that thing was, 5 cylinders, could barely hear it. Usually we have to yell at each other just to talk on hay rides over the Ford 7740 my uncle uses.

Just to clarify, I bought the tractor used (E-bay) from Tennessee, they did not have to pay sales tax, and when I bought it, I got a great deal. Here in Washington, sales tax is part of life, and it figures into re-sale value. So I was lucky with my purchase, and sold it for a good price.

Yes the tractor was in immaculate condition, the only repainting was the bucket ($12.00 worth of paint), and touched up the frame. I always kept wax on my tractor and it has always been stored inside, with no windows and no direct sunlight. I always used synthetic oil, and changed fluids and filters yearly re-gardless. That small invested convinced the 1st buyer that this was indeed a well cared for tractor, and it was.

It will be an adventure, and I don't know what I will end up with until a new tractor hits the driveway. I do like New Holland, not only the "Blue", but also the great luck I had with my first tractor. So yes I am still looking at a TC45DA, but I was blown away by the Kioti, spec wise (specs I was most interested in) it is better, I like metal, and it had features that others don't. My hesitation is that they are still realatively new/scarce around my area, and re-sale is a small part of the equation. For now I am enjoying the "hunt" and we will see where I end up. The benefit is, I have 2.5 years of playing with my TC30, so I now what I need and want in options and features.

Eric, Whatever you buy this time, when you get ready to sell it, can I have dibs? :)

At least all of the abuse I took for waxing my tractor was worth it :) Even now my wife agrees maybe I wasn't wasting my time. Hopefully I won't be selling the next one for a long time.

Dreamin Tractors, are your alders very large? I've been doing a lot of damage to 20'-30 alders with my 3120, which I think is close to your TC-30 in size. I am usually able to knock them over with a couple well aimed bumps.

If you have the rare alders that are huge, keep in mind they are bringing huge money right now. I understand more than cedar right now. My neighbor took the last 4 weeks off to take a bunch down. He falls them, drags them to the road with his tractor, cuts them into 21' and when he has a load he makes a call. Someone comes out and gives him a bucket of cash. He's been making more than actually working and I can't even tell he's done anything to his forest.

Unfortunately for me, all my alder is the typical PNW stuff that grows to 20 or 30 feet and falls over if I sneeze too close to it.

I have some good size alders, and have 15 acres heavily wooded. I have a forester coming out next month to take a look at it and let me know what it is worth. I have also been working with the Department of Natural Resources. I know I have enough to pay for a new tractor, and most likely much more. I may decide to take the slow route and log it a little at a time and do it myself, or just have someone come in and take care of it. I am going to take the next few months to research and decide the best route to go.

I won't buy a tractor until next year, so I can write off part of my purchase with any timber sales. There are also tax incentives for reforestation, and other tax implications, I need an accountant that is familiar with timber sales.

So all this will weigh into my new tractor purchase, it will be 45-50hp, grapple, backhoe and a logging winch/skidder. I am having fun again looking and comparing :)
