Golf carts at tractor shows.

I went to the Florida flywheelers show today. My dad went with me, and he had his back operated on a week ago, and he can't walk or stand for very long. So I rented a golf cart. What surprised me was that it looked like 90% of the folks there had carts. Very few people walking. I've been to other shows, but I've never seen so many carts, or so few walkers. Is this common at other shows?

Availability may have alot to do with it. I have a friend who would love to go to these shows if a cart rental were available. Had a hip replaced myself awhile back. You just do not realize how handy a simple thing like breathing is until your unable to travel very far without stopping to catch your breath.

I am not surprised as the population ages, many are left with the choice of using them or staying home. I have had to start using a wheel chair when going any distance and find myself staying home a lot more.

:thumbsup:i go to this show twice a yr and it is so big that you cannot see it all if you walk. altho you might see more details if ya did ..for sure you couldnt cover it all in a day..even on a cart its tough. we take the 4 wheeler...some of the contraptions running aroun that place are awesome

That is a BIG show! It's especially tough to walk all of it while carrying goodies that you've bought along the way. I do wish the vehicular traffic would be mindful of pedestrians, though. It's getting hazardous!

At the Buckley old engine Show they supply golf carts and a driver to give people rides around the fair grounds. It seemed like more people were riding around on home made vehicles or on garden tractors. It is nice to see that people are helping get the older folks out to the shows and help them move around instead of sitting at home.
