What is up with the guys listing used Kubotas on this site. They must not want to sell them too bad - they are asking almost what you can buy a new one for. They must have added gold plating to them.

Anyone that wants to upsize but don't have to have a new price for your BX. PM me. Need at least a 60" MMM.

Rick, I feel your pain, but understand the high prices.

I don't want to sell my BX, but I've added some stuff, like a grill guard, skid plate, Pat's easy change, etc. And yes, I'd like a good price for mine if I ever sell it.

I looked at some used BX's prior to buying mine, and the decision to go new was pretty easy based on price and financing.............

Hope you find what you want.

RickO, one thing I can tell you is that some USED models from Kubota, NH and Deere are actually selling for more than they cost when they were new. The brand new ones still cost more, but on a desireable used unit, they are selling for a premium. I actually had a dealer offer me what I paid for my tractor after it was over 2 years old. I can only assume that he had a buyer who would have paid even more! Not all the models hold up as well in resale, but the desireable units hold their value very well. Now be happy about being a Kubota owner because some of the minor brand owners are complaining that they can't even trade their tractors into the dealer they bought it from up upgrade to a larger tractor. If some of the minor brand dealers won't even take their own brands as a trade in, then you should feel very fortunate that the Kubotas are holding value.

Over my 22 years of owning Kubotas a rule of thumb about prices is that homeowner tractors change hands for roughly the same number of dollars each time they are sold - they depreciate at roughly the same rate as the currency. Sometimes a little faster (5-10 yrs ago) and sometimes slower (like now).

Rick, there are other sources for used tractors that aren't at full price. Check e-bay and other sources like Used Kubota Tractor-Used Kubota Tractors-Used Tractors-Compact-Utility-ELS. Last year I sold my 2004 BX23 (70 hours) with the 60"mmm for about $14,500, so there are deals to be had, you just have to look around at a lot of different selling sources.

For many states all you have to do is add in this little word, taxes! Sales tax on new but not on used. Don't tell the government, its our secret. ;)

Resale value is one of the reasons I purchased a new Kubota. I wanted something that my wife could get a decent price for when I can't use the tractor any more.

The high prices of used tractors is also what pushed me to buy a new one, $10,000 for 16 year old tractor needing 4 tires vs. $15,000 for a brand new model.

I have felt your pain.

same thing in australia too, if i had a shed full of kubota's i brought at a reasonable price i would be a very wealth man in a very short time i can tell you. best example i have seen lately, M90 kubota, 4ys old. 1600 very hard hours, FEL. sold at auction for about $5K less than new, crazy when you think about it.

Yeh, I guess it really isn't a problem. I am just surprised that everyone doesn't buy new when the price between new and used seems so narrow. I do see some other places where the prices are better on used stuff but most of them are too far away. I will probably end up with a new one.

I guess I also have been the benefactor of Kubota's good re-sale. I bought a B7800 a couple years ago with 68hrs. used it all summer and put another 200 hours on it and sold it one year later for nearly what I paid for it.

That is exactly why I bought new. When I started the process I was looking for something in 4wd, 30-40 hp with an FEL for around $10,000. First, there weren't any in my location. Second, if the price was a little less than that the machine was a high hour beater. I don't mind doing a little repair work but I wasn't ready for a 'project'. I have limited time to spend on the tractor getting work done and virtually no time for patching one up in order to keep it running. If the machine was decent it was usually pushing $15,000.

Then I found out that Kubota and JD and others had 0% financing. Well, that iced things. If I bought used I would have to borrow against home equity and pay interest. With 0%, I don't have to involve my home and I pay no interest. I don't know what three years of interest is on a $10-12k tractor at home equity loan rates, but whatever it is, that is what I saved by buying new. I ended up paying a little less than $19,000 for my L4400. That's waaaaay higher than my original budget, but no worse than paying interest on a used $15k tractor I'll bet, especially when you factor in the warranty, the peace of mind and the potential resale value.

Although, if the resale value of these machines is still high, these dealer incentives (0%) must not be slowing the used market down too much. I guess for someone with cash in hand (no loans involved), a used tractor can still be a good deal.

I guess I'm a fortunate son. I found a 4 year old BX-1800 with 54" MMM with 207 hrs on it for $4700. But my used L3130 set me back 16K.

Not that's the deal I'm looking for...

I think that there are some deals out there, but they are few and far between. I got my bx-23 with 100 hours for 12,500, and think I got a fair price. I think the key is to keep watching EBAY, and other sites on the Internet and eventually something will come up.

I have owned several Kubota products in the last 5 years and have been satisfied with all there products.
In 2004 I puchased a GR1800 with the 54" mower, front mount snow blower but it would not do what I expected of the machine.
On slippery clay soil it just kept getting stuck.
Going back to my dealer (Ben Berg Wainfleet Ontario Canada) they gave me very close to what I had paid for it on a new BX1830.
Good service Good will Great deal!
Regards.

I agree after all it does not make any difference how great something is once it is sold and used it is still used when you try to resell it. Sure a tractor may have a few hundred hours on it but who knows how it was used in those few hundred hours. For the buyer knows the tractor may have been sunk in the river and recovered.

I will always purchase used when I know that it was well cared for, and I don't mind paying more because of it. A used tractor doesn't depreciate that much unless it has been abused. You save on sales taxes, and all the kinks have been worked out and repaired. When new models are introduced and they don't have a track record, then used is even more desirable. I don't want to be the guy on the block that buys the new tractor and then has it back to the dealer every month while the manufacturer works out the problems with the new model. I alway prefer tried and true equipment over new, that the manufacturer says is "improved", but not proven... Dusty

Yes, I bought a 3 yr old NH TN70A with 168 hours (used) for a savings over the price of a new one of 12K. 105 hours and 3 months later, best deal I ever could have imagined. I was very lucky. The 12K saved can now be used for attachments, which is why we buy tractors, right :D ?
