Going to Wachita nest week...

Hey all, gonna be in wi-chi-ta for a couple of jobs next week via kans-as... If I manage to fit in a lil site seeing. What would be good to see in a few (3-4) hrs time? Figure I might find an hr or 3 wed or thur afternoon.... I like most any thing from museums to parks to plan ol tractor dealers.. Ya'll ahve some big dealers up that ways.... which often have attachments and such I rarely get t' see.. Like snow blowers... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Check out the Cosmosphere in Hutchinson, Ks. It's about 30 miles from Wichita. They have moon landing vehicles and space suits, a big bomber is on display, and all sorts of neat stuff. I think you would enjoy it.

hey there: Haven't been to whichita in a long time, (I was stationed there back in late 80's early 90's in airforce. McConnell AFB KS.) they ahve soem pretty nice places to eat, depending on what ya lke. on ROCK rd there are some pretty nice places (or were back then) bombey boys club had an awsome spinach salad /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif also there was a 50's rock & roll place on north rock rd.

other things to note, has many small aircraft manufactures there, also big ones. cesna learcraft boeing ect. prolly can't get into see them but they are there a few others too... anyhow I haven't been there in many many years so the above mentioned places my be gone now? you could look up my ex-woman in the phone book and drop her a line /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif lol

also if you ever wanted to see a B1B or hear one take off there is a road (forget it's name) just north of the base which you can have them take off right over the cars roof. maybe scorce a bit of paint off /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif lol they are quite awsome to watch & hear 4 flames abotu 40' long out the back in FULL AFTERBURNERS ... I worked on them from the day they first arived there untill I levt in '90.

There is also exploration place down on the River too. Loaders for Kioti, Cub Cadet and SAME Deutz-Fahr are made in the area too. The Cosmosphere in Hutchinson is a great place to go.

Cosmosphere is really cool. Has a planeterium also and an IMAX. Best thing is they've got the lunar ship that sunk into the ocean. Lots of memorabilia with that, I guess was a big deal back then, I was just a tyke.
