Been looking at tractors for a month or so and am losing my mind, started out looking at used Montanas and thought a Yanmar would be good plus there is a TYM dealer 40 miles from me. It seems like I can get a L3800 cheaper than a 35 horse TYM (surprised me) is 17,500 a fair price for a L3800 with HST and FEL? Might be spending more than I need to but am getting older and you only live once right. The dealer is 80 miles from me but will deliver it for free, not too many choices here unless I want to buy a rebadged "big name" tractor.

The price is one thing, I recommend you try putting an implement on the 3 point and slowly raise it before you buy.
Kubota has had, and still has, issues with the three point being jerky on the L series. Something you should be aware of before you buy.

I just had a new L3200 delivered 2 days ago and was delighted when the driver smoothly lifted the 60" cutter attached to the 3 point to unload it.
But when I got on and did a super slow lift, I got the jerkiness. The drivers technique was smooth and mine was jerky.
Finally figured out after a little use that yes, I can make it jerky if I try, but for just positioning from one level to the other it is smooth.
In my case this is not an issue.
(BTW the price quoted is less than my L3200)

I went through the same process and can relate to the "getting older and you only live once" comment. I might have been able to get a better deal, but I hate shopping and just went an bought what seemed to be a reasonable price compared to what else I'd seen. Mine was 17,795 "fair special price", so your quote sounds good especially with the extra horsepower. Did manage to get the tires filled with rimguard free by bundling a cutter and box blade with the deal. I'd say go for it:thumbsup:

Ditto what Chilly807 said about the Hitch my L3400HST is jerky. If you can live with the hitch, the rest of the tractor is very good. I still like mine jerky hitch and all. It would be worth your while to get a Skid Steer Quick Attach on the front bucket, might cost up to 1000 more, but worth it in my opinion. I did not get it at first and retrofitted later. But just like this evening I switched back and forth from forks to bucket, in cleaning up a felled tree. Much easier to get it up front especially if you have to finance. At least one rear remote would be great too if you can swing it. At least 3 guys we know of have made their dealers fix the hitch, it is apparently difficult to do, and takes a lot of trial and error adjusting. I have had no luck in that department. Now to the price, your quoted price is quite a bit better than what I paid in June 2010. Bottom line, its a good tough high value tractor, with one wart on its nose (the 3pt).

Though others have claimed to have saved " thousands" buying Kiotis, Mahindras, Montana's, etc. I just haven't seen that around here. I looked at some, and agree that they look just fine, but I can't trust that I will never trade again, and I just couldn't justify spending within a very few hundred dollars, and sometimes the same price for those tractors that I could buy a Kubota for, and then take a beating, or not be able to sell the used tractor on the other end.
To be fair, it's pretty hard to compare apples to apples.
ex - Kioti DK45SE vs. L4400 ... DK45 wins in almost every category as far as 'specs' are concerned - they are similarly priced with the edge to Kioti. The Kioti has more features, more power, more capacity in everything.
Did you save thousands buying Kioti? Not really - maybe $500-$1000 .. but you get 'more tractor'. So, you can choose a better dealer network, better resale, better name/recognition or more tractor.
