Main reason is to protect the drive line.

Yup..You punch the new ones and you can feel the torque control holding them back a bit until they hit apx 2nd gear---Then look out.
I've shut everything off and burned the tires on my previous 6.2, the new one is awd, so ain't happening with this one, got that out of my system once.

You can't tell me if a Ram or GM pulled up beside you at a stop light and you both had a load on you m wouldn't try to outrun him. Sent from my Samsung SPH-L710 using TractorByNet

I will admit, a time or two this MIGHT have happened. In fact, I have pushed my truck towing a trailer against unloaded vehicles knowing I would be able to take their lane from a stop light.

I have also passed many vehicles in the flatlands of Illinois on two lane roads while towing a 29' full blown travel trailer. Saw some funny expressions on the kids in the back seats of the cars I overtook but hey, their dad was driving 54 MPH and I like driving the speed limit. I'm sure the kid in the back seat asked why they were being passed by a camper.

Yep, beat me to it. Ever seen the torque curve of the Taurus SHO with the EcoBoost? Flat as a pancake, and obviously electronically limited.

Yeah but that is no fun:thumbdown:

I think they are plenty fun enough..Rolling starts are fun, just no dead stop stuff anymore--I can live with that.

As these trucks have gotten more and more powerful the mfg's have programmed in some "power ******" into the programming. Stock, my V10 F250 with 4:30 gears would barely chirp the tires. After adding a programmer, that removes this "power ******" it will light them up. I rarely abuse my Michelins like that but I promise you it will spin the tires no matter what is in the bed or on the hitch! On edit, this is mainly on the drive by wire trucks.
Video or it didn't happen. :) I really want to see the burnout with 1200 lbs on the bed (no power braking). Might get a few of us to chip in and replace your michelins after seeing this video.

I agree they are protecting the drive line. One of the reasons they had a hard time chassis dynoing the ecoboost and it's aggressive torque management. These super low first gears are requiring some large driveshafts.

Here is a 6.2 with a little wheel spin with 15,000lbs behind it.

I wonder how much tongue weight was applied in the video. Starting a heavy trailer is like pulling an anchor. Newton's first law at work. I am the same way the older I get.....more mass and less motion, I tend to stay at rest.

They estimated 1800lbs.
