My old L245 is giveing me headachs with its charging system and have mounted a GM delco altenator on it but am wondering how to wire it. The main red is easy but am confused to know which other wires need to be hooked up?

Thanks Bob

What alternator did you use?

On the Jeep I used to have, when I rewired it, I put a 110A GM alternator on it. It had one wire. I think the regulator was built in to the alternator...

Maybe check a 4x4/of-road shop, or custom car shop. It is pretty common to run an alterantor like that...

The two little wires on the GM alternator side are marked #1 & #2 (on the GM model 10 SI, or 12 SI). The #1 is hooked up to the idiot light, and the #2, gets hooked up to the big output terminal on the back.

There is a lot of info on the net on how to do the swap.

Good luck, Tom

Visit an alternator shop. I bought a plug that plugs into the alternaotor and has a diode attached to it. Wire the plug according to the instructions the alternator shop guy will tell you.

When power is on the plug the charger will charge, voltage regulated. Could not be easier. And Autozone sells them with a lifetime warranty.
