Glysophate and water

I spray our 2 acre pond with it. I buy the off brand from agrisupply. 41%. Kills the weeds fine never saw a single fish act sick or anything. 2-3 sprays last year.

With gly more is not better. A higher concentration solution will cause the gly to be absorbed too fast and will kill just the top of the plant, not allowing the salts to get into the roots for a good kill. I found that out the hard way, then read up and discovered why my spraying did not work. The label solution amounts are accurate for good results and I now mix it exactly as it recommends. And it saves money and time.

Unfortunately I am not aware of any Glyphosate instructions that make sense unless you have studied and have a license which I have not and don't. It talks about spraying so much concentrate per square foot of ground covered. I am typically spraying around trees and long fence lines and I don't know how much of the solution it takes to cover x square feet. I just want to know the proper mix that will kill the vegetation when I spray enough to get the plants wet. That seems to be about 1.5-2 oz per gallon of water and that seems to work pretty good.

I will look for the product designed to be used on dry land but adjacent to the pond so that some spray into the water is unavoidable.

Good point Alan, Im the same way. I want to know the mix in the sprayer, not the mix for coverage. I use both a 4-gallon and 25-gallon sprayer. I will try your formulation

I have also been told by the local co-op that the proper mixture for most situations is 2oz per gallon.

Directly from the Roundup label - "6 fl oz (12 Tbs) per gallon of water, Apply on warm days in bright sunlight, For easy to kill weeds such as seedlings, add 3 fl oz ( 6 Tbs) per gallon of water."
Later it lists "Spray the weeds or grasses you want to kill until thoroughly wet."

Maybe the generic label does not list that information?? Seems pretty clear as far as mixing and how to use on the label to me.

yup my label says about the same thing. Up to 3 Oz per gallon. You can dilute it more say down to 2 oz if you want. As long as its killing the weeds your spraying its working.
