Glow plugs not working on 8 year old Kubota BX23s

Out of nowhere my reliably starting (and seemingly new, where did that eight years go to?) Kubota BX23s wouldn't start, and we noticed the glow plug light wasn't coming on. First thing checked were fuses and it seemed one time that just removing and reinserting the fuse got it to come on and the tractor started. The next day, no dice on glow plugs again, and now the fuse thing doesn't do anything, so maybe that was just coincidence.

We're wondering if it's the module that controls all of this or could we be missing something simple? Thanks!

I don't have a BX, but the workshop manual mentions a slow blow fuse, and relay that are potential causes. It could also be the ignition switch itself.
The WSM has all the testing procedures for glow plug operation, and is available at www.kubotabooks.com. Consider making a small donation to them so they can continue to provide Kubota manuals for free.

Not sure about your machine, but likely there a is relay used to energize the glow plugs. Check the wiring diagram in your shop manual.

I'd start by removing the glo plug connections and cleaning and brightening them. Not familiar with your model but Kubota either uses a solid buss style connector between the glo plugs or individual connectors. Regardless of which type they are, remove them and clean and brighten the connections first, before getting into anything else. It's free and might just be the issue.

Good news, turns out it was the el cheapo relay. Replaced it with a 40 year old high quality Bosch relay that I had "in stock" and all was well. Thanks for the help!
