When I bought my BX (my ONLY Kubota I'm sorry to say) I went to the dealership to try one out. The tractors were lined up outside; the salesman selected one, inserted the key, and immediately turned it to start. It fired right up. I asked him if it didn't have glow plugs, and he said it did, but they weren't really needed unless it was cold out. The only reason I knew this was because I've owned a number of diesel autos, all which had glow plugs. At any rate, I use the glow plugs all the time...but only when the engine's cold. It only takes two or three seconds in the summer, longer in the winter. I can guarantee you that if I don't use 'em in the winter around here, it's not starting.
