Glow plugs...Have I been using them?

Maybe it's just a basic L thing! I like simple basic stuff. :D

Well it is the same only different. The GP activation between on and start is confusing to some. I actually preferred the left turn better.

On kubota m 40 series they also use the coolant temp sensor and key on position to automatically use glow plugs if coolant temp is below freezing. Yellow light bulb lights up with coil picture and automatically goes out. The only red light is the low oil pressure. Did you read the owners manual?

Economy L (L28,L32,L34,L38,l44,l46) -turn the key to the left to preheat. Grand L- turn key to on position and the glow plugs operate automaticaly.

When I bought my BX (my ONLY Kubota I'm sorry to say) I went to the dealership to try one out. The tractors were lined up outside; the salesman selected one, inserted the key, and immediately turned it to start. It fired right up. I asked him if it didn't have glow plugs, and he said it did, but they weren't really needed unless it was cold out. The only reason I knew this was because I've owned a number of diesel autos, all which had glow plugs. At any rate, I use the glow plugs all the time...but only when the engine's cold. It only takes two or three seconds in the summer, longer in the winter. I can guarantee you that if I don't use 'em in the winter around here, it's not starting.
