Farm Boss 224
I have a Farm Boss 224 (manufactured by Jinma) that I bought about a year and a half ago. Last winter I struggled with starting it because I couldn't get the glow plugs to work. I figured they were shot and didn't worry about it much. I had to take it to a local mechanic for some other issues earlier this summer and I had him check them. He said they are fine as far as electrical goes. He couldn't figure out how to get them to work. I have tried just about every combination I can think of as far as pressing buttons and key positions. Is there some sort of a secret to getting them to go, or is there likely some sort of wiring problem I am going to have to find and correct? I have run other Chinese tractors and most of the time turning the key to the left and pushing a button turns the glow plugs on but on mine turning the key to the left cranks the engine just like turning it to the right does. Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Is there a stop in between run and start? My tractor has a four position switch. 1=off, 2=run, 3=glow plugs and 4=start.
Also, are all the fuses good?

The fuses are all good as far as I know. They are the original ones that are the like little silicone cards with wire wrapped around them so I'm not sure how to test them. I will have to see if the there is a 4 position. Ive never noticed one but that doesn't mean its not there. I believe the guy who had it before me rewired some things because the tach and fuel gauge doesn't work so it may be that he replaced it and missed hooking back up the plugs. Looking at it last night I noticed there is a green wire (I believe) that is hanging near the ignition switch wonder if that is what should be attached to the 4th position on the switch

I had the same problems on my jimna 354. Not worth putting lots of time into it, so I bought a doorbell switch at home depot. Mounted it on dash, ran a hot wire to one side of switch and other to glow plug bar (hits all glow plugs). Disconnect the one from ignition switch. Now just push doorbell switch for about 10 seconds and start!
